For over a decade (maybe closer to two) I installed Malwarebytes (free version) as a secondary scanner to run monthly but a few months ago I uninstalled it - very frequent taskbar reminders (or pop-ups - I can't remember which) were a big distraction. Hopefully not an issue on the paid version.

Maybe it sounds like I'm being ungrateful so I'll throw a pitch in its favor - for browser redirects to malicious websites it does a far, far better job of protection than Microsoft Defender. A few years ago browser redirects were a common occurrence on Slickdeals:

It was so bad and ignored for so long that I stopped visiting for several months until they got their act together
I was already a customer but my license was due to expire soon, I was able to purchase and add to my account within minutes of ordering.
I know they're never bringing back licenses that don't expire, but I'm never giving them a dollar until they do.

I've been using for more than 10 years and never an issue with any conflicts/issues on system. I just works. Very happy and this is a great price. One PC still has lifetime version and wish I had more of those, but this is a great price.

Same experience! No issues ever. Gotta like that lifetime license deal a few years ago. It's all I use.

They used to sell "lifetime" licenses. At that time it was about $20. Dang, I should have purchased more than one then!

Yea I remember buying a lifetime license a while ago and like a year or two later they decided to revoke my license. After that I didn't bother with them anymore.

Is this PC only, or does a license work from MWB for pC or MAC whatever one uses it on?

Not quite as good as the 5 device/4 year deal I managed to snag last year for $25, but still a good deal!

This will likely be an unpopular opinion but...

I have the lifetime license for this, but I didn't bother to install it on my latest PC build. Actually, not since windows 10 at all.

The main reason for that is general internet discipline. I don't get myself in situations that put my PC at risk. There are enough hints these days to steer you away from garbage sites. Common sense goes a long way in keeping your PC safe.

TLDR Don't need this if there's nothing to clean.
Yep. I have 3 lifetime licenses and I just placed them on my parents and wife's stuff. Haven't installed them on my desktop or laptop if l in over years. Common sense works the best.

Recently got a bad virus on my PC. Mcafee did not notice it. I had it do a full scan and nothing. Installed Malwarebytes and it took care of it right away. Great software.

In 90s when mcafee was just a dos scanner, it was a sort of pioneer in antivirus. It eradicated all computer virus but things have changed now. If anyone has mcafee preinstalled in their prebuilt system, do yourself a favor - uninstall it and get something like malwarebytes and eset. I test efficacy of these antivirus on my sandbox, mcafee is very lacking. Malwarebytes hasn't let me down yet, its robust and very effective.

Opinion of a system administrator: if you use Windows save your money and just use Windows Defender. It's perfectly good for consumer protection, free, and updated by the same people who built your operating system and they know what they're doing.

And account is new (2021) and the seller is in Spain? Seems legit. 🙄
Zero risk. It's a 'digital goods', and not listed correctly. You could easily get it, click on item not as described and get a refund, whether it works or not. https://www.ebay.com/help/policie...cy?id=4289

Opinion of a security administrator:

It is always better to have multiple security products if you can afford it and they do not conflict.

Same. Found out my random BSODs were because of Malwarebytes Premium, which wasn't fixed the last time I checked the forums. Also had other issues with it on my Macbook.
I was wondering this too. I was having the BSODs probably a few months ago? maybe a little more. It happened when I installed the free premium trial upgrade they offered.
