To uninstall many junk apps preloaded by Samsung:
- Download, install, and launch the Minimal ADB and Fast Boot tool on your PC.
- Download, install, and launch the App Inspector app on the phone.
- On your phone, go to Settings and tap on About Phone. Find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable Developer Options.
- Enter Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
- Connect the phone to the PC via the supplied USB cable.
- Change to "file transfer (MTP)" mode at the phone.
- You will see a prompt on your phone asking you to authorize a connection with the computer. Grant it.
- Enter the command "adb devices" (no ") at the command prompt (PC screen).
- Enter the command "adb shell" if you see the serial number of the phone displayed. If not, then remove/reconnect the USB cable, grant connection, and retype the "adb devices" command.
- Enter pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package> for the app that you want to uninstall as displayed in App Inspector.
For Example, to remove youtube: pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.youtube
To restore youtube: cmd package install-existing com.google.android.youtube

Hopefully costco would give the cash deal. I hate the 24 months bill credit. Anybody know if my iPhone 11 has couple months to go, it would lose the bill credit if I pay it off early

Just placed 4 orders on the T-Mobile app on my own account. Trading in old flip phones that meet the requirements. I've mailed hundreds of phones for customers since our store does not do instant trade in's and I have never seen any issues.

The only problems I've seen is when people try to scam the system by mailing something other then what we inspected in store. The trade in by mail process has a 0% chance of denying your trade in unless you are trying to fraud the system by lying about any of the 3 requirements.

To be honest the warehouses are going to be so backed up the liars might even get away with sending liquid damaged cracked screen phones. But yeah save yourself the $20 upgrade fee and up selling of accessories and features and 360 insurance. Some stores don't even ask you about insurance they just go ahead and add it and if you catch it later T-Mobile will remove it but a lot of people don't have time to look at their bill. They are so busy working like slaves they don't even have time to see that the rep added insurance on their bill or the free accessory wasn't actually free and they are paying couple of dollars a month for it.

Even the honest stores will shame you into buying accessories or try to figure out if you plan on buying insurance and accessories and if you hint on not buying anything they will just flat out lie to you that they couldn't find any more phones in stock in the back room.

Trust me they aren't doing it because they are evil. It's how they make commission. I've seen reps telling customers state law requires you to buy insurance but you can cancel it after 3 months. That's because they'll make their commission by then. The reps that refuse to defraud the customer don't last long and get replaced by the ones that are willing to sell their souls for a dollar. Don't let anyone tell you this doesn't happen in corporate stores. These tactics were invented and are still practiced in corporate stores.

Moral of the story is save yourself the headache and place your orders over the phone. T-Mobile pays moderators on Reddit to delete posts that reveal what goes on in stores so you won't find this information there. Maybe slickdeals will delete my post as well lol. But no seriously I love T-Mobile I was a customer even before I started working for retail but trust me when I say this. There's no difference between a T-Mobile store and a car stealership. Any commission based job will turn you into a liar and a crook. Just my 2 cents

From T-Mobile's FAQ's for the Samsung deal:

"What if I don't see my device listed in the trade-in list?

Don't worry, simply select the 5G Upgrade Promo Trade All Carriers, 5G Upgrade Promo Trade All Makes and 5G Upgrade Promo Trade All Models in their respective column and we will get you all taken care of."

True, just got off the chat with T-Force. They confirmed it too. Was told to select 5G Upgrade Any Phone Any Carrier under the dropdown menu. Thank you!

Unless something has changed, that's just the weird way T-Mobile shows trade in orders. It's kind of off-putting and I don't see why they can't show something to confirm at checkout, but if it showed the $282 then you will get it.

The $3 and $7 are just the instant trade in values excluding the promo credits so that's how much you would have gotten if there was no promo.

If you are doubtful, you can do the offer at a T-Mobile store or contact them to confirm beforehand.
Yes, you are correct.

Wrong, currently have two promotions in one line
That's not what I was told by T-Mobile Corporate. The T-Mobile rep said that I would have to wait until the bill credits are used up before I can get another promotion with bill credits even if I paid off the phone. The T-Mobile rep also said that if I get another promotion on the same line, the current bill credits will stop and the new bill credits will replace it.

Have you looked at your bill to specificity look and see if you are getting 2 promotional bill credits on the same line?

Tempted to do this stuff my nexus 6 and nexus 5 but it seems wasteful to get something I don't really need because it's ~$30. Oh well, in for 1 backup phone I guess.

I don't work for Tmobile.

But, my understanding is that if you pay off the phone early they will NOT give you any more monthly credits.

TRUE STORY.... so I had a OnePlus 6T... got some kind of tmobile promo and got 24 months of bill credits. Just before I was billed for the very last month I jumped onto the Samsung 20 people's edition and I said, my last credit is going to be billed in 5 days but this promo will end in two days... can I pay off my 6T in full and still receive my last bill credit and trade in that phone for the Samsung S20 FE 5G?... They said yes. SURE ENOUGH, I was not given my last monthly credit... had to bitch and complain to get it but it was not easy. They told me if you pay off your phone early you loose your monthly credits.
This is probably what happened. You are allowed to pay off the phone early and will keep getting the bill credit on that line; however, because you applied another promotion will bill credit to the same line, your earlier bill credit (OnePlus 6T) stopped and you new bill credit (S20 FE) started. This was what I was told by T-Mobile Corporate. You can not have 2 promotions will bill credits on the same line.

If they mention taking old flip phones then they'll take your old trackphone.

I bought a OnePlus 7T last year, paid it off early to get it unlocked and to sell it, and I'm still getting my monthly credits. It's a shame you somehow lost your last credit but there have been *many* confirmations that you will still receive device credits if you pay off your phone early.
Just don't try to get a new promotion with bill credits for those lines; otherwise, the bill credits for the OnePlus 7T will stop and you new bill credits will apply. You are basically locked out of any new T-Mobile promotion for that line for 24 months.

I'm confused. Regarding the iPhone 12 promo, the OP and Wiki are both wrong about no add a line being a requirement? Add a line IS a requirement? If so, that makes the iPhone deal not attractive at all to existing customers. Am I missing something?

Saying that the mail in trade process has 0% chance of denying your trade, unless you are trying to commit fraud, is completely exaggerated and not true.

I've seen many posts online about people getting screwed by mail in trades and then spending months fighting to get their money back and they can't all be liars, even though some of them might be.

While you are correct that lots of people will be trading in very cheap devices, all it takes is for one sticky handed person to open your trade in package down the line and either steal it or see that's it's some cheap flip phone and toss it in the trash. The device being sent in doesn't matter because if the trade doesn't work, you will be charged $282 so that's your maximum risk.

Even if no one tries to steal your device, it could get lost on the way or at the destination facility where there will likely be 1000s of packages coming in with trade in devices. Any number of things could happen and could result in someone having to spend time resolving it to make sure they are not charged full price.

They are charging $7 shipping for the free phones or you pay $20 in store. I look at it as $13 of insurance against paying $282 in the future.

Sure, it will probably work out for most people, but there are always mistakes that happen and some people will end up paying the $282 and having to fight with T-Mobile to get it back.

At the end of the day, how much do you value your time at? If it's more than $13 an hour, and you spend more than an hour trying to resolve an issue with your trade in, then you lost out in the end.

Again, sure, it will probably work out for most people but for $13, I rather not have the potential headache down the line. To each their own though.

Also, I'm sure that some stores have terrible employees that will try to upsell you or add on insurance that you don't want but the same can be said about most places.

When I traded my XR in for a 12 pro in store, the rep asked me once if I wanted insurance and once if I wanted to use my left over credit to buy a case. I said no on both and he moved on.

Not everyone's experience will be the same, but you can always ask to see a final tally of charges before signing off on anything to avoid surprise costs or contact TForce when you get home.

Getting a small insurance charge removed will be much easier than fighting a $300 charge if your trade in device is lost or stolen.
