Questionable quality, wont last, but its cost is so dang cheap. Especially after leaving a 5 star review and receiving a $20 amazon gift card from Vankyo"
Once they give out a bunch of these gift cards and secure the number of 5 star reviews that they want, they can make the products even worse than they already are, jack up the prices, and essentially scam people who buy their garbage product thinking it's good, since they will be highly ranked on Amazon.
They count on good old fashioned greed, or at least people being naive enough to not realize what's going on.
But hey, you made a profit of $8 right? So who cares if a few thousand people after you get screwed.
I said no, just send the charger.
And they did lol.

The usb extender provides volume and surround sound control, as well as mic mute - mute button is a little counter intuitive, when it's lit you're unmuted, unlit you're muted.
Initially I couldn't get mic to be detected - had to plug directly into one of the open PC USB ports. initially had it plugged into a usb splitter. That fixed it.
No complaints on sound quality, stereo surround sound works and I was able to hear my buddy well enough when online gaming.
Feel of the headset is nice enough, I use a turtle beach headset for xbox and both don't hurt my ears and fit my head.
My one and biggest complaint about the build, the top of the headset is metal and it can start to vibrate and ring, especially if you adjust or tap the headset in any way.
For $12 I give it a double thumbs up.
LED need usb power but usb may not just for lighting since it also send audio to the earphone.
I hear you. But the USB is definitely not just for lighting—I tested it with my Philips headset and it definitely provides an amp. Not a good one...but it's there.

The USB dongle has a USB+3.5mm jack connection so u just plug it all in there.
Short answer: No, just connect via USB to laptop.
