so this box has an HDMI 2.2 port which can only support 10gbps throughput if i am reading the OP correctly? i am thinking that kind of kills this in terms of very good 4k hdr support (assuming xbox series x will poopoo that).

HDMI 1.4 with HDCP 2.2. Yeah, not great for gaming on latest consoles. But a great projector for movies. It can game at 4K SDR

These suffer from the same power supply issue as the 5040's. That said, with the 2 year warranty you should be good. I don't think the deal is hot though. IF the 5040 [epson.com] was in stock it would be a better deal, and even that has been a lot cheaper in the past.

I'm all fine being corrected myself, but I believe you're mistaken: the power supply issue struck the Epson 4000 and 5040, which was supposedly rectified on the 4010 and 5050 respectively.

That's actually not true. They share the same chassis as the 5050UB. You are thinking of the 4000 and 4040

If anyone has access to a time machine, can you go back 7 months ago and grab me a brand new one for $1500? Thank you.

Sort of off topic: Optoma UHD-38 (4000 lumens) and UHD-35 (3500 lumens) are both available on Amazon $1400 and $1300 respectively. Both are great for gaming and have similar specs 4k (faux just like Epson) HDR, HLG, 1000000:1 contrast ratio, 240 Hz and 4.3 ms for gaming. I know the Epson 4xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx have best pictures, for less than $1500, shouldn't we go with the new Optomas?

DLP vs. 3LCD.... I'll take the Epson's 3LCD.

Epson's brightness is for all colors, unlike DLP pjs that's only for peak white.

I recommend the Optoma if you get RGBRGB wheel with 6x speed.

How would this compare to a HT3550?
