How does this stuff compare to the $400 I just spent for weed treatments from a lawn company?
I used the one that attaches to the hose on my lawn a few weeks ago and saw results in a couple days. It won't really be able to attack the crabgrass that is already established but the newer crabgrass, it killed those as well as other weeds. I would definitely recommend this.
However, more weeds started to come up after I sprayed.
So if you're looking to just kill and kill, this would do the trick but if you want to kill and have no more weeds some up, i would go with a pre-emergent granular solution.
This stuff works pretty well ( in the Northeast at least ) but just be aware that using these concentrates requires some investment and cannot be bought as a one-time thing . That is why I only use these chemicals in premixed format. If you use concentrates you need to handle the chemicals in concentrated form and so you need to take full safety precautions such as respirator masks, gloves etc. Then you need to have a gallon sprayer ( which isn't necessarily cheap) and a separate measuring device and funnel — all of which then need to be totally cleaned out after use (and even then I do not recommend using the same equipment for any unrelated chemical compounds. ) Please do misunderstand—none of these things are beyond the skill level of the average person BUT be aware that they do require an additional investment and additional time and effort. So if you are not using concentrates now — then this may not be a deal at all consider all of the extra costs involved in applying concentrates.
How well do these do with hairy bittercress? I have a good pop up this year and I sprayed with 2,4-d about 3 days ago and they seem unphased. About to go hand pull them before they start flinging seeds
This Spectracide in the deal contains Quinclorac to kill crabgrass. If you don't have crabgrass and are just looking for a general broadleaf weedkiller, then the 2,4D on Amazon will do you well. 2,4D on its own will not kill crabgrass.
