About this author:
  • Bill Bryson, bestselling author of A Short History of Nearly Everything, takes us on a head-to-toe tour of the marvel that is the human body—with a new afterword for this edition.
  • Bill Bryson once again proves himself to be an incomparable companion as he guides us through the human body—how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts (your body made a million red blood cells since you started reading this) and irresistible Brysonesque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular.
  • As Bill Bryson writes, "We pass our existence within this wobble of flesh and yet take it almost entirely for granted." The Body will cure that indifference with generous doses of wondrous, compulsively readable facts and information. As addictive as it is comprehensive, this is Bryson at his very best, a must-read owner's manual for every body.

I've already read this via the library but am happy to own a copy myself. Highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this book. Also, his audiobooks voiced by him are the best and helps me sleep at nights. Better than ASMR.

I guess I'm the only one who hated A Walk in the Woods. He didn't even remotely achieve what he set out to.

Most people don't complete the trail... Young people can't complete it nevermind a couple of out of shape guys with little to no camping, wilderness, hiking, road marching experience in their 40s and doing at a time pre internet.

I got it from my local library and loved it. It's great the way he explains the most important chemical and physical processes that happen in the human body with simplicity. A must for curious minds.

The point was that they tried and accomplished a lot on something people talk about and never do. The history of conservation was interesting too.

To each their own but I loved it a lot.

The book was what got me hooked on him, someone I barely knew from work said I'd love it, I was skeptical, but I've read a lot of his stuff.

The movie is laugh out loud-able (Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, Emma Thompson, and Mary Steenburgen).
