Does Roku offer anything better than Fire TV stick.
Not taking up 90% of the home screen with ads.

There are also hidden menu codes where you can enable dev/test screen instead of ads that appear on right.

bought one on black friday. had a 3600r, this is 3810r. thought it would be faster, its not. as a matter of fact, apps sometimes load slower than on the older model. beats me as to why. had problems with remote control unit on the older model, roku sent a replacement twice, much less problems since then. but we opted for caavo and its remote control since it can control our roku, firetv, xbox and tv (and soundbar). dont get me wrong i love roku, its the best cheap streaming device, but sometimes i simply go to firetv because it seems a tad faster (but then again, is always running out of storage space lol). for 24$ a no brainer imo. repped.

Absolutely correct regarding the remotes/batteries. I have several of these throughout the house. Two are plugged in via USB power on the back of the TVs (because who wants to run wires?), and they plow through batteries. I actually thought the remotes stopped working on several occasions, as they don't like to "pair" back to the TV. One workaround- download the Roku App to your smartphones, and just use that. Seems to work for us.

Just FYI, this doesn't play well with atmos tracks through the Plex app. Im assuming it's a plex software issue, but it doesn't pass-through the atmos track to the AVR.

Can it control volume of a monitor with speakers (not TV).

I wish Roku is Bluetooth keyboard compatible.

I have a Roku Premiere, refuses to connect to app, tried everything on the checklist. Ultra has no problem from same app same phone.

much better interface, you can rearrange all the apps and not have only xy amount like on firetv, its stable (never had any problems whatsoever, while firetv sometimes gets glitchy, but not that often though). on the other hand, prime video app on roku is really sluggish, so is appletv+. as said before, got the stick+ for black friday hoping it would be faster than the 3600r, but its not. youtube app sometimes takes like 15 seconds to load, but then again sometimes it loads faster. weird. vudu app on roku is fast and works always, no vudu on firetv besides sideloading it ( i found an ancient version of vudu app that works and its interface is not all messed up on firetv tho). but, firetv is faster. but then again, runs out of storage space if you have more than a few apps. firetv integrates all your purchases in one neat place, but then again its not customizable.

There are issues with the remote draining batteries on the Streaming Stick+, usually needing new batteries every week or two. Roku said to connect the power using the wall outlet instead of using the tv and they pushed a firmware update. For some, it slowed the drain, and for others it didn't do much.

Here's one of the longer threads about it. There are more, and more recent threads, if you navigate to the parent forum.

Yeah, this has been an issue on this stick since forever. It has more to do with the remote using wifi to communicate with the stick. That's how you can point the remote anywhere and still control the Roku stick. The downside is Wi-Fi is a serious battery drain in general. The other downside is if your home network is on the same wifi channel as the Roku remote then there will be interference for the remote. In those cases the remote becomes unresponsive to any input. That said, I have three of these throughout my house all powered by the TVs. I made sure to put my home network on a different channel and I just keep a good stash of rechargeable AAA batteries around to feed the remotes. With those two workarounds in place they've been golden.
