Starting to do more research on refrigerators and am hearing LG isn't the move. Anyone know a good brand or model I should be gravitating towards? Water dispenser is nice, but ice maker is must have. Thanks!

No particular model to suggest, but Whirlpool is currently the top pick, followed by GE and Frigidaire...then maybe Maytag and Kenmore?

I wouldn't get an LG for the same reasons you probably found already, and I honestly don't think I'd use Samsung even if it were free (because after all the repairs, it won't be free at all).

Thank you I'll start there. Recently found out we have a baby on the way and having another fridge will be helpful. Current LG one has a failed dispenser and ice maker so that'll go in the garage

just jumping in to say i currently have an LG and want a new fridge because it's...not great. the ice dispenser button flap thingy broke and in general it's loud as heck at times. like, i live next to train tracks and the fridge can be louder than the trains.

None of the manufacturers these days make models to last years and years so if you look at reviews there are complaints about premature failure for every model or manufacturer. For what it's worth consumer reports has rated LG to be their top pick for the last couple of years. But in SD you'd typically hear only bad things about Korean manufacturers

Are you seriously suggesting that Slickdeals users are racist against South Korea? Do you have any evidence to back that up?

Because Samsung, at least, is garbage because they make garbage and then don't stand behind the garbage they make. It has nothing to do with Samsung being a Korean company.

With that logic, would I think you are racist for buying Japanese cars or Made in US equipment? What sort of non sense comment is that? People these days would tie everything to race

Please stop lol there are literal class action lawsuits against LG because of their refrigerators

What in the world are you going on about? You specifically said that SD only complains about Korean appliances. There's literally only one way to interpret your useless and borderline racist comment.

Furthermore, you're talking out of your butt. SD will gladly complain about anything. No one here cares where it's made, as long as it works and was a good deal.

I can't believe some of you are allowed out of your cages to play on the internet.

Moving into a new home and have been reading a lot.
I hear and refrigerator with a water and ice dispenser will have issues especially with the compressor.
LG has issues with compressors
Samsung ice maker
They claim it's resolved however I don't believe it since I'm still seeing the same issues from reviewers on newer models.

Yeah, I'm staying away from LG... My refrigerator stop freezing and it is only 4 years old. LG out of warranty repair was going to cost me about $500 and it was one of those things that it may or may not work after repairs. Also my 1.5 year old Washer is starting to act up and sometimes does not want work. No more LG for me and it seems like Samsung sucks too so what else is there now? Frown

My LG fridge's compressor failed at 4.5 years but LG fixed it for free. The technician said the updated compressor was updated and should last longer. So far everything is good at 1.5 years. My Samsung washer & dryer are both going strong at 6 years.

I agree with that, My Samsung Note 10 broke after a month and sent it to get it repair/replaced. After 4 weeks I got it back, however after a couple of months I accidently broke the screen and took it to a Samsung authorized repair shop to get the screen replaced for $300. After waiting for 3 hours they said they would not replace the screen because there was moisture inside the phone because the phone was opened and not sealed properly so they refused to do it.

Why did they wait 3 hours to tell me that. I had to wait outside because the only repair shop was 1 hour away from where I live and Samsung opened the damn phone to fix it when it stopped working after a month of me having it. Called Samsung multiple times, but they refused to do anything about it.

I ended up buying the version of this with the dispenser for 1700 right before the pandemic and I had to look forever for a 33" fridge deal
