I bought this last winter and do not recommend it. It's not touch screen, the controls, using touch sensors, on the side is a bit cumbersome. After a few months of giving a chance I sold and used that money towards a Nest E and have been very happier with that model.

Yes, this is the reduced cost Nest (the giveaway is the batteries). This gives you some of the basic remote setting/monitoring functionality but most significantly (for me) drops the remote sensor support. That latter item is such a valuable game changer that unless you're absolutely certain the remote sensor functionality wouldn't provide any value (perhaps you have an open floor plan studio apartment, small condo, etc.) then I'd steer you clear as this is not the Nest you're looking for...

yeah... no one should be buying this right now. It looks like almost half the nation's energy providers are getting offers for a free or almost free prices.
