Quick answer is yes, this will be more powerful. Longer answer is that HP numbers are pretty bogus, but CFM is definitely a bit more truthful (even more so at the same hose diameter).

Craftsman puts their name on lots of vacs, so not sure what specific one you have. But looking at specs on this craftsman 3.5hp vac (https://www.searshometownstores.c...WetDry-Vac) they are kind enough to list CFM and they're at 67 CFM and that's at the same 1 7/8 inch hose diameter. This Ridgid is around 120 CFM at the same hose size, that's a obviously significant difference.

Is there any difference in suction power with this versus the larger 10 or 12 gallon models?

Also, is HP the primary indicator of suction power? I have a 3.5 HP Craftsman, it has decent power but I wish it had more. If I buy this, is it an upgrade?

I recently got the 3 gallon cordless Ridgid vac and absolutely love it - these guys make really good wet/dry vacs. This model WD4080 looks to be a pretty solid deal. Showing $10 less than the WD4070 (their other 4 gallon vac), while having a stronger motor (on paper - these HP ratings aren't really to be trusted, but the CFM ratings seem more legit), a detachable motor turning it into a lightweight blower, and it comes with the better blue filter. So this deal makes it a pretty obvious winner over the WD4070, and the WD4070 is a pretty well respected vac in this size/category.

Note: ~85db from the product questions... not for those who want a quiet one. Look for a 2stage motor if you want quiet.

Anyone have this? How powerful is the leaf blower? Probably not insane enough to move wet leaves or do heavy duty leaf blowing I assume? Probably more for just cleaning off driveways and patios and such?

This is a shopvac wouldn't work too well on any type of leaves other than dried up leaves in your car or something like that.

Edit — let me rephrase, I have this model without that attachment and I would use it for light cleanup at most. You're better off getting a cheap plug in leaf blower would be more apt at cleaning up any real leaf piles/spring cleanup.
