I have this 16" version. I say it's good for anything below "heavy duty", which is one step below "commercial" in my book. That being said, that's all I'm comfortable with handling as well. I have cut up multiple small/medium trees in one charge (new chain), which is plenty for my uses.

However, the 18" version has double the RPM and has much improved performance over the 16". If I were buying new today, I would opt for that model as I would consider that closer to "heavy duty".
Chaps are safety pants used when running chainsaws. They have material in them that quickly binds a chain and chokes down a gas saw, usually before it gets to your leg. With an electric, the torque of the electric motor overcomes the binding which allows the chain to continue spinning ... right into your leg.

Thanks - after I saw your post, I googled it - and saw that chaps do help, somewhat. I'm only going to be using this on the ground, so probably be fine, but would still consider chaps to save an errant swing. Thanks!

Wow, this was going to be my first chainsaw. I've been debating between 2-stroke and electric and this deal had me going... but OOS. Oh well.

I have the 18" version. Used it a few times. Hmm... How long do you suppose chain sharpness lasts for?

I've only cut up maple tree limbs (used up two 5aH battery charges). And the chain seems dull already. Granted I've accidentally hit the soil/grass a few times, so that could be why also.

Seems like you've had some more experience with the chainsaw already. How long do you think the chain would stay sharp for?

I just placed an order for it to be shipped and also see available to order for pickup in about a week at some locations within 20 miles. Might want to keep trying.

I've been holding out for the 18" so long also. One of us holding out should just cave in and buy it, because it'll finally go on sale. Or settle for the 16".

Just change the bar and chain, ffs

You snooze, you lose.

Best comment was the guy who hesitated to see first if this was the battery with a gauge. Like it mattered at this price.

I have been waiting for this deal for about 2 years... This time I managed to react in time to snag it Smilie
Not the 18" version, sadly, but better than 14" and battery is way better than typical 2.5ah - I already have both 2.5ah and 5ah and difference between them is quite large in power-hogging applications (like blower), while trimmer works fine either way and is much easier to use with smaller battery.

How long it stays sharp, depends. If you hit dirt, it's dull very quickly. If it's not throwing good chips, it needs sharpened. I have a small battery powered handheld sharpener, my hands don't work with a manual file, takes like a minute to touch up a chain. I'd say I touch up mine every tank of fuel if I'm not doing something ...rougher. Don't have a battery one, but look from time to time for some reason (my gas saws last for decades, with little maintenance and no issues, with tons of use).

It me! laugh out loud I've got a 7.5 and two 2.5s already + no real need for a chainsaw, so I'll be ok. Hope you enjoy.

Laughing at myself. Got the 14" with 2.5 battery last October when HomeDepot had their clearance. Paid $199.00 which was about $100 lower than normal. Didn't have need to use it in the Fall so it is still unopened. HomeDepot's return policy is 180 days due to COVID-19. Checked my receipt earlier today and as fate would have it, with my 10/11/20 purchase date the last day to return it was yesterday Frown

Of course by the time I realized that this deal was close to dead. Oh well, I don't have any heavy trees that I need to cut down so the 14" will be just fine for my needs. Just hate that I missed out on getting a bigger chainsaw and battery for the same price.

The encouraging thing is the fact that Lowe's is offering nice discounts on Ego equipment. When Ego made the switch to Lowe's last year most of us figured the days of getting discounts were gone.
