Saw 2 in stock in my area in NY, so I went to the store and they weren't on display. Went up to register and it seemed like the supervisor knew exactly the model and size I was looking for, and went to the back and retrieved it for me.

My guess is an employee is trying to keep it for themselves... but I left one for them

My store says it has 4 in stock. Talked to the employees who said they couldn't find them and that they were "probably stolen". I'm guessing they're saving them in back to purchase themselves. Can't blame them, I guess.
Yeah can't blame them. I went to order 3 online just to see if the price adjusted but it didn't

120gb for your O/S root drive is a minimum (after the OS updates, office, page file, core apps associated to the OS like malwarebytes), also, it's well documented that ssd start to degrade when you fill them to capacity. Personally, would be hesitant about using such a small drive today for anything but some games favorites, a cache drive for a mechanical hdd, or raid a half dozen together for a reasonable storage pool.

I didn't say I called the store. I was in the store, but couldn't find the product on the shelf.

Just to note, the higher capacity HP S700 drives came out to be regular price when I was at Staples.

EDIT: For what it's worth, it does seem like it's a Staples-wide (as opposed to store specific) deal. The brickseek inventory was accurate to what the Staples employee told me in-store, too, so it's worth checking out if you're close to a Staples.
Yeah I also showed up at the store and it wasn't on the shelves, and when I asked, they went and got it from the back. They were nice enough to at least be honest with me - not sure how many other stores would do that.

I went to the store. They went to the back and brought the 250GB. Said they couldn't find the 120 even though they should have 2.

Can confirm the price is 6.46 clearance in store, here in SF Bay Area. Store associate showed me her scanner device indicating 4 in stock, but could not locate it after looking in the back. Can't tell if they're holding them or if they're really gone.

Limited stock at the stores near here, not even going to waste my time/gas.

Price is fine but just be aware this not a drive with cache nor does it like being filled up. Limit to OS and should be fine. I was using one and you can see both of these limitations with any large tranfers. I stuck mine in a rarely used backup PC. Reviews call reliability into question ss well.

Brickseek showed 2 in stock at my local store. Not on the shelf, only the 512 and 1 TB HP SSD's were. Politely asked if they might be in the back, as it is just the boxes on the shelf, not the product. They found one in the back, it rang up at $6.46.

I use these for other operating systems for the laptop. Have a very simple to replace hard drive in the notebook, and these run much faster than booting off a USB drive, and at this price are cheaper.

For larger SSDs I put them in enclosures and connect via the USB port. You get dramatically faster speeds than you will find on the small USB drives. When you need to move a lot of data to computers that aren't network connected this is really the way to go.
