This is HF's Black Friday sale, and I picked up 2 more of these in store (my store had plenty when I was there). Some of HF's coupon-less deals are not quite as great anymore, however, I own a couple sets of these bits and $10 seems like a steal to me for the quality. Even the case/bit organizer is really nice.

I still assume most of the stuff harbor freight sells, is just cheap Chinese junk, but I'm going on 20yrs now with my $49 harbor freight bench vise and 18 yrs with my $80 harbor freight 8" bench grinder, neither gets used a lot but they are both still working. The Bench Grinder has never been very good, but it's been serviceable. The Bench Vise has been great, and I expect it to last at least another 20yrs. The point being, there's still some potential good values to be had at Harbor Freight, this seems like one of them. As long as you get a couple holes out of every bit, you got a pretty good deal for 10$. If you get less than a couple holes, this deal sucks, if you get more bit longevity it's a great deal.

Wow, what a helpful comment "Jenny." 6,295 reviews, and 4.5 out of 5 stars on HF. Maybe you can explain why they're "rubbish."

Below average bits at the best and that's being generous.

In the Project Farm video you linked, this same set is listed as $19 and the winning DeWalt and Bosch drill bit sets were even more money and much smaller sets. Again, find a better sub $10, 29 drill bit + set.
M2 grade HSS is good, better than other low end HSS (for instance ive seen Skil and ToolShop from menards, and a few others use 4241 grade HSS which is really bad)
If the cutting edges are ground well, they can perform well for the price.
The huge problem is, the quality control for HF is horrendous. There is a large portion of my drill bits that were ground poorly. Some were not even deburred before they coated them.
Good for the price, but they are priced this way for a reason.
Just understand there will 100% be bits in your set that will be ground poorly and not drill metal, that have uneven grinds which will oval out and oversize your holes (or snap your bit), some will just be straight up blunt out of the box.
Regrind the crappily made bits with a drill doctor (or other sharpener) and youll be golden.
They're not garbage. I haven't seen one independent review that says they're garbage. It's funny... you post a deal for a more expensive tool like knipex or Gearwrench and a third of the comments are about "I can get it cheaper at Harbor Freight..." -- then you post a good Harbor Freight deal, and then most of the comments are about Harbor Freight being trash. I'm getting the sense people just like to bitch a lot. I own better bits, myself.. high end USA made specialty steel bits, Makita, German made Black & Decker... but guess what, in the smaller sizes, they break as well. Only when they break, they're not $10 for 29 bits... you can't even get German made B&D bits, anymore.
These bits are great for the price. They're so inexpensive, I keep a set in the case with one of my portable drill just so I always have them. At 29 bits, its a very complete set... and if you read the thousands of comments on HF's website, most are very positive... and those people actually bought the bits.
HF does sell some decent bits.... try the M35 cobalt setssuch as this one [harborfreight.com]. Not great out of the box, but once touched up/sharpened, they are decent bits worthy of the cost.
PS: Anytime you whine about down votes, you are going to get more... so stop with the begging. The confident real experts could care less about recognition, let alone the politics being played more and more on this site.
