HF Warrior Titanium Drill Bit Set, 29 Pc. ($9.99 in store but shipping avail)

This is HF's Black Friday sale, and I picked up 2 more of these in store (my store had plenty when I was there). Some of HF's coupon-less deals are not quite as great anymore, however, I own a couple sets of these bits and $10 seems like a steal to me for the quality. Even the case/bit organizer is really nice.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
High speed steel titanium drill bits run cooler, drill smoother and last up to three times longer than your standard drill bit set. I have the 115p and this 29p M2 HSS titanium sets.
M2 grade HSS is good, better than other low end HSS (for instance ive seen Skil and ToolShop from menards, and a few others use 4241 grade HSS which is really bad)
If the cutting edges are ground well, they can perform well for the price.
The huge problem is, the quality control for HF is horrendous. There is a large portion of my drill bits that were ground poorly. Some were not even deburred before they coated them.

Good for the price, but they are priced this way for a reason.
Just understand there will 100% be bits in your set that will be ground poorly and not drill metal, that have uneven grinds which will oval out and oversize your holes (or snap your bit), some will just be straight up blunt out of the box.
Regrind the crappily made bits with a drill doctor (or other sharpener) and youll be golden.
Although I was taught how to sharpen drill bits at a very young age, the much later created Drill Doctor [amazon.com] does do a decent job... especially with split point. I am pretty sure I could teach a dumb third grader how to use it to sharpen, that makes even the cheap bits usable and reusable.... like the OP's.

I would also agree that the HF Cobalt35 bits [harborfreight.com] are great for the price if you can touch them up.

Then you have not been reading the comments in your own thread... This is not a deal when you have to make a special trip to a store on short notice, or pay for the shipping. Maybe at some point HF will move into the 21st century and allow ordering online to later pick up in store at the customer's convenience. If I were there, I would pick these up for $10 as throwaway or loaner bits, but not making a special trip.... make sense?

HF does sell some decent bits.... try the M35 cobalt setssuch as this one [harborfreight.com]. Not great out of the box, but once touched up/sharpened, they are decent bits worthy of the cost.

PS: Anytime you whine about down votes, you are going to get more... so stop with the begging. The confident real experts could care less about recognition, let alone the politics being played more and more on this site.
This is not a deal at only $10 for 29 bits and almost 50% off the regular HF price??? Whatever.... I could post a free tool giveaway and you'd complain about the fact that they didn't give you free shipping as well. So, no, complaining about and down voting $10 drill bits (that even performed quite well in Andytime's own Project Farm YouTube video) from a chain store with 1,000 locations across the US because it also doesn't come with free shipping does not make sense... make sense?

The $115 Chinese-made cobalt set in 1/64 incremental steps is a ridiculous comparison. Seriously, who, other than a machinist is going to want that many small bits in 1/64 increments? You really even bothered to bring that up in a post on 29 bits for $10? If you think that's a deal, then by all means post it.

Finally, save me the patronizing lectures... nobody is begging for anything. If you don't like a deal, then move on. If you don't like it, move on and don't thumb it up, but to down vote it... really? Also, if you're such a "confident real expert," then why don't you post some of your own deals - "tool deals?" As I recall, when you posted a deal and people complained about YOUR deal, you spent half the thread criticizing everyone that said anything negative. People in glass houses shouldn't throw rhetorical stones.

Weird, I refreshed and now it's showing me the $9.99 price again.

As for your question, if it's priced lower than what it's normally selling for. then yes it's a deal. Whether someone likes the product or not is a side issue

I'd rather spend a bit (no pun intended) more and get something of better quality but then that is what sets a lot of these HF "great deals' apart. Some like the quantity vs the quality. Personally I don't care if these are the best 10 dollar bits on the planet if they are garbage they are garbage.
After 30 years I'm on my 2nd set of the cheap, $50 titanium bits from HF, and that's only because half of the first set have ended up in random bins and drawers over the years. I also buy individual HSS, cobalt, and Ti coated drill bits, reamers, and counterbores as needs arise, and I don't see any difference in quality between the coated bits. In other words, the $15 individual coated bits behave exactly as the ones from the HF set.

To answer your question (before you deleted it) -- it's not that everyone has to "like" a deal. The thing that's aggravating, is people that complain about everything and also don't contribute much. In addition, some people deliberately down vote ANY deal I post (such as ToolDeals) and almost never have anything positive to write. Do you think ToolDeals ever gave anyone any reputation points? I don't know who "Jenny Cantrol" is, but it's a brand new account, and every comment is negative. Go ahead and take a look for yourself, and then ask me about being "defensive."

You felt the need to reply and defend yourself to a comment I deleted. Let it go bud.

After 7 years, maybe you can post more than 2 deals, "bud"... and then talk to me about letting it go. Okay? Thanks for your contribution!

Actually, ToolDeals gave me rep on Saturday for this deal I posted. Many others did as well. You'll notice no arguments when a true slick deal is posted. If you post a mediocre deal you should expect comments and debate and you can't take it so personally and go after everybody. Such is the nature of mediocre deal posts -- they are debatable on both item and on price. And when you go after everybody in such a thread, even those making reasonable statements like many is this thread, you should expect people to say negative things to you. Unfortunately it creates a terrible feedback loop that benefits nobody.

You mean the deal posted by Blacklit? Sure, that was a good deal... although, who needs 5 pairs of Corona garden snips, but it's still a good deal. I wouldn't down vote it, just because I don't need 5 pairs of snips and could purchase one pair for about $6. These bits in this deal are almost half off HF's regular price... this is as low as they go, ever. So, it's a good deal, even if you're not a fan of their drill bits.

As far as "mediocre deal posts" - is that supposed to be a shot at me? I've posted 33 FP Deals, alone (*edit - 34... see today's FP for reference). I really don't care if somebody doesn't like this deal... it's almost half off from a store that already sells items at a discount. HF sells a ton of these drill bits, so I know it's a good deal. It's just funny when people down vote things for ridiculous reasons. I think you know very well what I'm talking about, because I've seen you attack people that have posted negative comments on your own deal postings.

Finally, if you want to torch a deal, then provide an alternative! HilmDaisy has posted 2 deal in 7 years - both were turds, and now he's going to lecture me? Again, if you've got a better deal on drill bits, let's see it. Your Project Farm link gave top awards to Bosch drill bits - great... only, there are half as many bits, for twice the price. It's like posting a deal on a Toyota Camry and somebody linking a video of how much better the Mercedes E Class is... uhmmm, yeah, they're not really competing in the same price class, are they?

Sorry, could not make it through the rest of your ignorant, self patronizing, whining nonsense.... and stop trolling me across this site like some vindictive woman.

The bits are junk, you cannot buy online for pick up in store at a later date and making a special trip during the short sale to save a few dollars is akin to driving across town to save 5cents/gallon of gas. I know, I know, being practical is not allowed....
