Goes for $30 for the same model on Amazon. Bigger isn't always better... convenience comes at a cost. While this is a good price — I'm going to pass because I've broken too many glass carafes and have moved on to stainless steel — no more worry of breaking it while washing or tipping over on the drying mat.

+1. I own a Bodum and this is absolutely true. They use extremely thin, cheap glass, not sure why. There's literally zero reason to create an appliance with thinner glass than your everyday cup or bowl. I suspect a lot of their profits are from breakage.

The number of recurring French press customers has got to be a lot more profitable than the number of new French press customers who manage to never break a thin, fragile glass container..

Pyrex and Corning need to get into the French press game, because Bodum makes garbage.

I have bodum and can confirm they will break if you drop while washing. This is still a good price so f the haters I'm copping another. French press > your crappy drip

4.6 out of 5 from 15316 reviews say otherwise. You're like saying you want a corvette, but in stainless steel. My son loves his 34oz and has had it a few years, never broken.

Thinner glass better resistance to thermal shocks.

Bodum is the world's largest french press brand. No one is disputing that. What we're discussing is why they use inferior, weak glass that's easily broken with a metal spoon, a small drop, or a ding from a pot.
