The number of recurring French press customers has got to be a lot more profitable than the number of new French press customers who manage to never break a thin, fragile glass container..
Pyrex and Corning need to get into the French press game, because Bodum makes garbage.

Goes for $30 for the same model on Amazon. Bigger isn't always better... convenience comes at a cost. While this is a good price — I'm going to pass because I've broken too many glass carafes and have moved on to stainless steel — no more worry of breaking it while washing or tipping over on the drying mat.

4.6 out of 5 from 15316 reviews say otherwise. You're like saying you want a corvette, but in stainless steel. My son loves his 34oz and has had it a few years, never broken.
In for a 17oz for a great price. TY OP ~ Reps +4

What brand/model do you recommend?
I'm not a coffee person, but my wife mainlines this stuff.

Does that make sense to you? Pyrex figured it out, why can't Bodum?
It's a good deal for a cheap french press, but the glass is still trash.

'The Chambord line is available in both borosilicate glass and recyclable shatterproof carafes The borosilicate glass is ultra-light and strong, has great heat- resistant properties. The Recyclable SAN Beaker is Shatterproof and provides a the same clean cup of French Press Coffee you expect that is even greener! Both carafes are dishwasher safe and will not get cloudy in the dishwasher."
Borosilicate is not "cheap" glass, as you say.
