My personal experience with 2 phillips lcd tvs are cheap and disposable. 1 turned off right after the 3 yrs manufacturers warranty. The other died at 2.5 years. I highly recommend extended warranty on their electronics because its not made by them. Their home stuff are great!

Two separate companies have licenses for these products.
Philips and Magnavox TVs, DVD/Blu-ray players in North America are made by Funai since 2008. Philips branded PC monitors, audio and TVs (for the rest of the world) are made by TP Vision (TPV). TPV are the second largest producers of PC monitors, AOC is another of their brands. TPV also are an OEM manufacturer for other PC monitor brands.
