Lenovo's list prices are absurd. Who would ever pay $2800 for an i-5 16GB soldered laptop?

Yeah these things are actually made of woven/machined carbon fiber and magnesium. Very strong, very sturdy for the weight and thin profile. And yes, people who think this is not worth it have not tried using a thinkpad. I've been using them for many years and my favorite was the T420s until I bought the X1 series and the unit is absolutely gorgeous and is made with super premium materials and build quality. Keyboard is legendary. Touchpad and the "nub" (there are other names, too) is thing of memes and legend. Lenovo is loved by enterprise i.t. for it's supreme durability, ruggedness and ease of maintenance/repair/support and just overall anti-idiot design. The keyboard even has a drain pan built in so it protects the internals from spills. I can go on and on why thinkpads aren't your normal laptop but I would be typing up an essay.

I would bet dollars to donuts that anyone coming in here and thread crapping this deal on specs or processor has never used a thinkpad. The only think holding me back from upgrading my gen 6 is that I NEED the UHD+ screen for work.

You can easily buy the USB-C thunderbolt docking stations now and the X1 comes with USB-C TB port that has 4k out

I'm still on a Gen 3 and it has been flawless. Started using it in the garage and continued daily use. It's hit the concrete a few times as it has aged and the thing hasn't missed a beat or taken any damage. I'm pretty convinced at this point these are bulletproof. Really tempted to finally get a gen 9 for the screen improvements and processor efficiency, but even now my gen 3 is still so awesome I have a hard time pulling the trigger. Agree anyone thread crapping has no idea what these laptops are about.

everything is hugely up in price these days as people burning through their stimulus. If you want to buy anything high end, get ready to pay at least 1.5x

For the price.. I would go with an m1 air. I used to love thinkpads and had a few but Windows is so bad. Way less stress and aggravation with MacOS.

I've always really liked Thinkpads (I am typing this on an X1 Carbon), but unfortunately, Lenovo uses so many suppliers for its parts that the Thinkpad reliability and quality have gone way downhill.

My employer has been exclusively using fully loaded Thinkpads for decades. Over the past couple of years, however, we've had a huge number of serious problems with them, including things like faulty motherboards, faulty screens, etc.

Hence, the downtime with them has gotten to the point where we are switching the entire account away from Lenovo.

Some of you defending the price to specs ratio of this deal should really shop around more. This is a luke warm deal if it's even a deal at all.

It's very important to note that it's a ThinkPad line (old IBM thinkpad) that kicks ass, not the consumer line.
