Personally, I use this instead of a garage door opener left in the 2nd car in the driveway. Much more secure

They do it because it's part of the integration with Ring eco-system, which in turn is owned by Amazon. Ring + this garage opener allows you to participate in a program where Amazon drivers 'securely' drop your packages inside your garage instead of your doorstep.

Hopefully this works better than my opener with this built in. It dropped my WiFi numerous times. Now it won't find my network, it's about 9 feet from my repeater. Which also has my Ring Floodlight attached.

Try doing some research before knocking a product. Why would you allow someone to say, "Alexa open the garage door" and then get into your home? Granted Alexa devices may or may not be nearby but no company will take that risk for your convenience. It's meant for remote use to open and close in case you forgot to close or wanted to let someone in. Not EVERYONE

funny you mention this because i noticed the same exact thing. my garage opener has 2 bulbs, and i could only use an LED bulb on one specific side/socket in order for my older black MyQ to work.

I have the black version and it mostly works great. Sometimes, when I use the app to open the door, it takes 2 attempts (and there is a long delay between try 1 and try 2) to open.

I was happy that there was a MyQ app for my Apple Watch! Imagine the convenience of being able to open your garage door after being out for a walk without needing your phone! Well, except the problem is... if you haven't used the watch app in a while and attempt to use it, it says to log in with the phone app! Hardly useful when I don't have my phone with me. If Apple Watch is so secure, why can't it remember me and always allow me to open the garage door?

But for the cost and if you use Amazon Key and get your $40 credit, the device is free.

Will this alert if the garage door has been left open for a long amount of time?

I bought a Nexx garage door system a couple of years ago and that was the biggest piece of garbage. The thing never worked correctly/confidently so it couldn't be trusted. All I wanted it for was to tell me if the door was left open and it failed at that task.

Yes it will, you can also set it to alert you at what time you want an alert. So you can say after 5, 10 , etc min

I have the black version and its worked flawless on small quirk it has is that after a certain temp below 0 it gives me an alert telling me the battery is about to die and needs to be changed. I learned to just ignore it and it works fine

I got one of these last time they were on sale. Installation was a breeze. It's nice being able to check garage door status remotely. I also use Amazon Key for deliveries and it's perfect (although they don't always deliver them inside my garage - sometimes they drop them by the front door, but that's an Amazon thing, not this item).

I am returning this twice now. Both the times I had issues with close errors. Not gonna try it any more.
