There was a factory in China that burnt down last fall. I forget specifically what chip they made, but it was apparently one that all receivers use. I mean every model from every brand. And they were the only factory in the world making this chip.
So it's not just the receiver you're looking for .. it's pretty much all of them that are becoming more scarce, and deals as a result are harder to find.
I'm seeing used receivers asking nearly MSRP in some cases!

Edit: I found the article

Black friday prices are poor reference points.

This receiver does not have HDMI 2.1 so I'd almost consider that a plus at this point. If you really need 4k/120hz, I'd hold out till new models are released this year. Seems like a lot of issues reported with HDMI 2.1 receivers.

I had a $40 off $250 coupon from when I signed up with Costco last year that I never used. It was supposed to expire January 31 but I just was able to use it on this receiver so I was able to get it for $310+tax.

The S750H is actually from 2019 and doesn't include the new 8k chip that's causing problems for this generation of receivers.

This is Slickdeals, a site where we literally discuss deals. Just because you're upset you missed a deal doesn't mean it's not a good reference point. In fact, it's an excellent reference because it can tell you how close or far you are from a time of good deals.

Any reason to not go for this if just using it via eArc? I will not run anything video wise other than maybe my shield for the time being to use all the audio options..

I have a set of atmos speakers since Christmas I've been wanting to play with..

might be just outside the 30 day price adjustment. time to do a return-rebuy and pick up a second one too for another area. solid unit.

This or the Yamaha TSR-700 for 399. The Yamaha has Pre-Outs which is a good feature for some.

I have both. I prefer the Yamaha. I would say for a beginner to the Receiver game you should grab this Denon though as its a bit more user friendly/traditional. Also has Audyssey which is generally preferred to Yamaha YPOA.
