Great TV, great price, thumbs up.

Obligatory consumer information:

Currently this TV does not do 4K120 (instead it does 3840x1080 and then upscales) and Sony is being deliberate unclear whether it ever will. So if that specific feature is important to you, caution.
Costco specs say 4 x HDMI 2.1 ports. In reality it only has two, and one of them is also eARC. So if you want to connect eARC audio, and an XBOX, and a PS5; you'll be a port short.

Only regret I have is not spending the extra $400 to get this instead of the 75". Best TV I've ever owned all across the board

Also this price at Best buy, but highly recommend you just spend the $60 on a Costco membership for the warranty.

Wow I would expect these to be a lot less considering new model is around the corner. But who knows. I saw some lg c9 65 inch TVs that were 1899.97 and the cx is 1950. Go figure. No logic this year
I paid $1500 for a 65" x950g last year. These TV's are gigantic $2k is pretty good price for how big they are imo.

I was about to upgrade my 75" Samsung TV to 85" Sony because of VRR feature. Then I heard it was delayed. Rumor says it wont be released and VRR update will be implemented to next gen TV afterall. For this reason, I'll wait and see. Hopefully the price goes below $1800

Costco website says 5 year warranty, bestbuy website says only 1 year warranty. Costco clearly the better place to buy
If you already have a Costco Membership this is the better place to buy based on their 90 day return policy, but not because of the included 5 yr Sony Manufacturer's Warranty. If you read the fine print on the warranty, it does not include in-home service; you have send or take the TV to an Authorized Sony Service Center.
Fine Print: "To obtain warranty service: You must deliver the product, in either its original packaging or packaging affording an equal degree of protection to a Sony authorized service center together with a dated purchase receipt in order to obtain warranty service."

Pretty sure the new lineup does not include an 85" model, so Sony may be deliberately keeping the price high because it isn't really getting replaced.

Ahh thanks for adding this valuable information. So now it's 55/65/75/whatever new size is that's not 85

I've used the extended warranty through their credit card for a non-accident, malfunctioning iPhone screen. The experience was medium:
1. I had to get a repair diagnosis and quote in writing from a shop. The only cell phone repair place in town uses non-OEM screens (like the cheap third party places usually do), so the quote was much lower than the standard replacement cost at an Apple score.
2. I had to submit a lot of documentation and wait maybe a week or two on reimbursement. But they did pay the amount of the quote.
Why wouldn't you get the repair quote directly from Apple?

Yeah, the 85-inch is actually 71% larger in screen area than the 65-inch, so not that out of line, but the 75-inch is not priced well.

Does the Costco version have a 5 year warranty vs the normal 1 everywhere else?
I missed these 2 posts, but responded to another (post #20). Keep in mind that the 5 yr warranty is not a Costco Warranty, it's a Sony Warranty. That Sony Warranty does not include in-home service. That's why I purchased the 65" at BB when it was on sale over the holidays. They probably weren't suppose to, but they applied my 10% BDay coupon and paid the balance with BB Gift Cards that I purchased at 20% off. Finally, I purchased a third party 5 yr warranty that included in-home service, and still came out better than the holiday Costco price.

Debating a 75" Q80T for ~$1900 or 85" X900 @$2200 - is a $300 price difference worth the extra 10 inches (will be sitting ~12 ft away with lots of glare). I was leaning toward the Q80T for its reflection handling and gaming aspects but this seems like a great deal as well.

85 has almost 30% larger area vs 75.
