PSA: For those in states where you're considering enrolling in the utility program to save money on the thermostat, make sure you carefully read the terms and conditions on those programs. For my state and local utility (and I assume other states and utility companies) the pricing model changes, in some cases drastically, by introducing different levels of peak pricing and sometimes even direct control over your thermostat. Whether it can save you money in the long-term is possible, but just be sure you fully understand what the program entails before jumping in with both feet.

Tennessee is so far behind. Not even funny to
I'm moving to Tennessee in September and I'm not looking forward to it. I just need to tough it out for 2 years, then it's hopefully back to So Cal.

VA DOM here. Showed as $49, but when I signed up, price jumped to $129.
I wonder if the honeywell 7 day programmable would be better

I currently have an old dumb honeywell on the wall.
Heat pump + furnace (gas). The current thermostat has imprinted on it cool-off-heat-em below the switch, then there is a light for aux.
      I can't make sense of Dominion's description
      https://www.poweredbyefi.org/domi...pro-2.html
      • Compatible with Central Air Conditioning : Yes
      • Compatible with Heat Pump (No Aux.): No
      • Compatible with Heat Pump (No EM): No
      • Compatible with Heat Pump (With Aux.): Yes
      • Compatible with Heat Pump (With EM): No
      • ---------- So it's not compatible or is compatible with EM? ---

I chose to move to Florida and it was the best decision I've ever made. You're clearly doing things wrong if you can't find happiness here
Right, when there is ice on the roads up here in OH, I wish I lived down there...

darn it. Enron isn't anywhere to be found on the list. I guess they must be making their shareholders happy.

I moved from MA. Ohio probably not as bad as it is there but not only did I get better weather, but the cost of living savings and tax savings allowed me to live a much better life. I even got a raise when I moved down here. I used to work for a company that was right outside of Boston and they paid like we were out in western MA. Most of the companies in the area for finance and accounting professionals did the same. Lots of great reasons why I love Florida. Too bad that media portrayals of a place with literally all walks of life can cause people to write off a state.

I have PGE in CA and qualify for $100 rebate after self install and activation. The nest basic or ecobee lite would be free after this rebate. question is... how easy are these to install for a novice?? Anyone installed this before and know the activation process?

Eh it could be worse. Try to stay towards bigger cities like knoxville and Nashville. Stay far away from Memphis unless you want to end up on unsolved mysteries 😂jk

No comment on the nest specifically but the ecobee was very easy. I installed mine into a new house (in 2018) but the wires were very easy to match up. Just make sure to mark them or take a picture before you disconnect the old thermostat. My AC guy told me a story though that these smart thermostats cause ac units to fail early. I highly doubt that's true but *maybe* if they are turning them off and on more frequently than a dumb thermostat I could somewhat see the validity in his anecdote.

I didn't save any money going from a standard programmable thermostat to a smart one but I wouldn't go back to a dumb one ever. I love being able to adjust the temp from my bed or if traveling change it remotely (I can't tell you how many times I forget to set the thermostat to vacation mode before leaving, lol)

Question - I live in CA, but PG&E only supplies my gas (electricity is via another local provider). Will I still be eligible?

It's not allowing to register to the site if we don't own electric car for more than 1 year. Without registration it will not allow to order
