I'm 6'1" 175 lb male and am really glad I have the 40mm. It's pretty funny reading the comments how many big tough guys there are in this thread that judge people on the size of their watch, lol. I guess I'm saying check out both sizes if you can and see what works best for you.
I agree. Personally, I think the 40 makes it look more like a watch instead of a gadget which is why I went with it. People shouldn't believe that just because they are a male that the 40 will be too small, no matter what your body size.

How does this model compare to the series 4? Have considered upgrading to this but wasn't sure if it's worth it.
I have the 4 and the SE has a few less capabilities than the 4

I barely dropped mine on a tile floor & it shattered-anyone have Apple do a goodwill repair considering I've only had it a couple months?
My son shattered his 3 on shower tile and they refused to cover under warranty. I am so angry at how easily they shattered and I'm just outside of the 60 days to purchase Applecare. I'm considering purchasing another, adding applecare+ online w/my S# & make the claim, then returning the new unopened. It's still going to cost me $120 to repair but IDK that there are any other options and I'll have coverage for 2 years. Its $219 to have apple replace out of warranty.

I recommend coverage-$49/ 2 years for SE, $69 deductible for accidents. Actually reasonable compared to competitors that have similar rate however lower deductibles.
Squaretrade ($49 w/$39 ded) and Upsie ($42 w/$25 ded) are competitors-anyone use them for a watch?
FYI-there are several CCards that offer phone coverage if you pay your bill w/it.
You can buy the Apple care wait a couple of week and say you just dropped it.

40 is good for most ladies. I've got a 44 and my 5'7" wife has tried it on. She's says it's too big but I think it looks fine.
I had a 38 watch 3 in the past and thought it was a smidge small. I like the 44 as then battery IS larger.
The always on display of the 6 would be nice but I can get by with the watch turning off when I'm not looking at it.

IMO, the SE is like a Series 4.75 . Positives = slightly better processor (Series 5), more memory (all are 32GB storage), compass (series 5), altimeter (series 6). Negatives = no EKG (Series 4), no always on display (series 5), No blood oxygen sensor (Series 6), no U1 Ultra WideBand chip (Series 6).

Those are the basics. So the SE would have a little more than your series 4, but not much, and even lose a things. You might get another year of support for the SE down the line.

Also, in my opinion, the Apple Watch SE will take over for the Series 3 as the entry model this fall, likely selling for close to, if not at, the current MSRP for the Series 3 (40mm for $199.99, 44mm for $229.99). It just makes sense to retire the Series 3 and move the SE down to that price point in September 2021. Could be some good sub $200 deals on the SE series by the holidays this year.

They should, if they don't you can always return and repurchase. It would be in their best interest to just give you the difference rather than take it back.

Very helpful, thank you! Seems I'm best served waiting a bit for an upgrade and going with either a discounted s6 or an SE2 (if they make one).

My wife has been asking for a new fitness tracking phone - her old fitbit stopped working months ago. If I'm spending on something nice, buying from Costco is a bonus. My questions about the gps + cellular version of this watch for $290:

We're using Tello right now. How will the watch alone do for making calls, sending text and streaming music, when away from the phone left at home?

How does this phone do with android phones? She's got a Pixel 3.

How is the tracking for fitness and sleep? It pissed me off when fitbit started charging for upgraded features (I know this doesn't apply to the old feature set and that is still available, but it still don't like it). Is the tracking with this phone pretty nice and free of that kind of monthly fee plan?

edit: After a bit of research it looks like the cellular functionality is moot crap with Android - is that about right?
