Everyone will see it a little differently sometimes, but my take is it's Q90 or bust. The Q80 is a nice set too, but I believe the 90 does a better job at handling glare and my room has lots of windows. The Oleds have an amazing picture but in some of the places I saw them they were like mirrors when it came to glare, and the blacks are so deep that dark scenes were too dark. You couldn't see things in shaded scenes. The Sony 950 was an impressive set, but no HDMI 2.1 knocks it down a notch, but you don't game so that's not an issue.
To each their own obviously, and all these sets are quality units. We're talking Miss Universe versus Miss World here. For my set up and environment it's the Q90. For yours it may be different. If windows/sunlight/glare are not an issue and you only watch movies and stuff then you can literally pick any set. I prefer the Sony Oled to the LG if you go in the Oled direction. Same panel but better processing via the Sony. If the TV is going in a well lit room with windows and lots of glare, then I'd go with the Q80, Q90, or Sony 950H.

I know LG is probably the best screen quality but it's $250 more. Is it worth the upgrade? Screen size doesn't matter. If the Sony was 1000 like it was during Thanksgiving, I would have jumped on it.

Where's this TV going? OLED gives the best picture but may not be as effective in a brightly lit living room. A nice dark basement is where OLED does best. If you want it in a bright, sun-lit, room then QLED is probably the better option.
To be fair I haven't owned a QLED. But I was under the impression that QLEDs work much better in bright rooms compared to OLEDs.

Thanks for the info. You could be right. I actually finally upgrades to the CX but it's coming on Thursday. I can't wait. My current TV is a 60" Samsung Plasma I got towards the end of plasmas about 7 years ago. I really like it but I'm a huge gamer so needed something with HDR, HDMI 2.1, and other features that new TVs offer.
Thanks. I just hope it holds up. I've been using Samsung TVs for almost 2 decades. Still got my first Plasma from them that i got in 2006. Still works great and looks good imo. Hoping this LG can hold up also.
This particular QLED is significantly dimmer than an LG OLED.
I would stay away from this TV. You are paying for the QLED brand name but the performance is just meh.
