Airfare for 4 nights at a decent resort in Mexico for $300 for 2? I'd bet to get that deal you might lose a kidney.

Regular rate directly from Marriott seems to be around $100 per night, and plus by using Travelzoo would probably lose my Marriott Platinum benefits (free breakfast, late checkout, etc) A big no thanks!

I stayed here 3 or 4 years ago back when it was still a part of SPG instead of Marriott.

Great hotel, great service. The location is walkable to to the marina area where there is lots to do and a great adventure outfit called "Puerto Vallarta Adventures". If you are feeling adventurous drive and hour north to Sayulita for the rest of the week.

Until you get a "false positive" and some Mexican official hits you up for a $500 "we can make this go away" fee

Good luck

People just watch News and YouTube too much without going out of the country to see the truth.

From Mexico, and can confirm this MIGHT be a possibility. Let's not pretend most Mexican officials are not corrupt and would not attempt to extortion foreigners at any given opportunity. They do it to the locals. However, even with this possibility, always always have backups. Most extortionist Mexican officials are pretty dumb. Always bring your own documentation, do not expect they are there to help you. Also please don't get discouraged into visiting Mexico. It's very beautiful. Quite honestly, be street smart, stay in touristy areas, and you will have a beautiful time!
