That appears to be a YMMV clearance price back in 2018. The Blue Hawk racks are no longer sold at Lowes. These were most likely clearanced because of the 25% steel tariff imposed by Trump back in March 2018.

Many of the people in the thread couldn't get that price depending on their zip code. I've never had any luck with brickseek and YMMV deals on slickdeals. Every time I go to get a deal, the store's inventory is wrong and they didn't have any in stock.

I fully ignore YMMV threads. I never have luck with them in my area. I think some unemployed people spend all their time on slickdeals and snipe deals, then resell them on facebook marketplace or something.

I just checked the lowes website now. The Monsterrax and Gladiator 4x8 rack are $152($179 reg) and $159.99 each. That's $300- $320 for 2 racks, and no hangers or accessories included. So I don't know what you're talking about.

$240 for two 4x8 racks is a great deal.

I got this deal last time it was offered and it's great. Installed it by myself, I used an A frame ladder to hold one side of the cross beam while I bolted in the other side.

When pricing them out, this deal, given the quality and thickness of steel is actually very good. Most kits that get you close to this price range, require you to buy plywood for the base, while this kit comes with the steel grate base and extra hanging hooks that are very useful.

I bought a bunch of those black totes with the yellow lids and this totally free'd up all the floor space in my garage. I'm so happy I did this.

That's a 3x5 (15sqft) for $52. Which falls in line with the pricing below in terms of square feet:
Gray
2'x4' $49.99
4'x'4' $69.99
2'x'8' $79.99
4'x'8' $129.99
White
2'x4' $49.99 (8sqft)
4'x'4' $69.99 (16sqft)
2'x'8' $79.99 (16sqft)
4'x'8' $129.99 (32sqft)

So if you want a 4x8, and you want 2 of them. This slickdeal from Costco is a good deal. Your rack is 15sqft for $52 so that's $3.46(sqft) and the costco racks are $240 for 64sqft so that $3.75(sqft). But given the added load rating, the steel may have to be a little thicker the larger you go. So it won't scale linearly and you also get the specially made hanging accessories which I do find very useful.

I have 14-foot ceilings in my garage with a weird ceiling. I called SafeRacks and paid for professional installation. $125 per rack (I wish there was a discount for installing more than one rack), and the installer was professional and quick.

Because of my ceiling, the rack sits about two feet off the wall, so I bought some 36" bungee cords to strap across the sides and back to prevent things from accidentally falling off.

It's literally like installing a loft room in my garage. I've put a ton of seldomly used boxes and seasonal items up there, and it's only about 65% used so far. It's nice to reclaim some ground-level shelves for items I use more often. I use the included deck hooks to hang our snow skis, golf bags, golf carts, and ladders.

Just FYI, mine is the Blue Hawk (basically 4'x4', actually 48"x44") for $23. (Basically comes to $50 for a 4'x8' footage). I have 4 of them, on clearance from Lowes

Basically, the 4x8 on sale at Costco is a OK deal, but IMHO is basically "regular sale" price, vs a "Good Deal".

I was one of those people. I went to multiple stores and couldn't find any, but since vowed to never "overpay" on garage ceiling racks, citing that deal as a reference point for a good deal. My garage full of SDs (other "good deals" mostly consisting of FOMO items that I bought multiples of for fear of potentially needing more in the future or fear that a friend/family member might "overpay") is a surmounting mess, and I wish I could just at least get everything off the ground. We had tennis ball-sized hail yesterday in Texas and I couldn't even park my wife's "new" minivan in the garage (which she had to wait for and drive a dilapidated older vehicle way longer than she should've, especially given she makes a lot more money than I do and can afford so much better). Now it looks like crap. My greatest regret is not waiting until after the hailstorm to purchase it, as it would've been thousands more off now. Silver lining is the storm chaser roof guys says they can talk my insurance company into giving me a new roof.

That sucks. This was one of the best investments I made. There's just something about having a clean garage floor.

The builder told me not to install these things in the garage because the ceiling can't support it. Are they telling me that to protect themselves because they didn't follow building codes to save on building materials? It's a single-story built 10 years ago.

I have two mounted side by side in my garage. If the installer install it correctly, you will not have an issue. The reason why is because the weight is distributed across the same same br at different length.

I just spent $360 on similar racks on amazon with the combo hooks. Too bad costco's site is down for maintenance right now
