How much is 2000 points worth
It depends on how you redeem really, which can get complicated. Long story short, if you don't already have a Marriott Bonvoy account, I wouldn't go out of my way and start trying to collect Bonvoy points based on this.

Having said that, the points guy and a bunch of other websites calculate the average value of one point to be 0.8 cents, so 2000 points would be $16. Nerdwallet values one point at .9 cents, so $18. I've also seen 0.7 cents.

Here's Marriott's redemption chart. Basically, one night at the lowest category hotel would be 5000 pts during an off-peak time of year, 7500 pts during a regular time of year, and 10k during a peak time. Higher category hotels require more points. You can also use fewer points if you partly pay cash, as you can tell from browsing the chart.

You got three nights in a suite for 2,500 points? Where?
Lol, 2,500 points gets you a cardboard box in the alley down the street from a Marriott.

Didn't they extend the expiration of all points to August?
Thanks I didn't know this. It seems like it's true.

I followed the steps and didn't see the "Marriott Bonvoy" option in the Uber app. Had to force close and restart the app and it appeared and linking worked the first time. Thanks OP!

In short, I saw a $25 Amazon gift card for 10,000 points...

I had a 3 night stay in a suite for 2,500 points...

So my impression is that the point value isnt that great but Im just skimming the rewards, perhaps someone can point out better value-for-points rewards???

LOL I misspoke... I RECEIVED 2,500 points for a 3 night stay... I just read my above comment back and what a deal if that was true. Yeah my point was that the program seems pretty stingy on points... I would have to stay over 10 nights to earn 10,000 points, enough for a $25 Amazon Gift Card...

Definitely better to use the points for a hotel room than a gift card according to this!

Marriott's Rewards program sucks compared to Hiltons, BUT......their StayAnywhere Pass Promotion is far far better than any other Hotel offering I've ever seen. Long story short, they give you $10 restaurant credit and allow you to check in as early as 6:00 a.m. And to check out as late as 6:00 and yes you can do a late checkout as late as 8pm. All for what amounts to the normal price of a hotel stay. So yes the rewards program sucks but if you combine it with the StayAnywhere Pass Promotion, you are on to something. Long story short, you can get a lot of value up front instead of being rewarded for it later. Repped.
