What happend to the years when you could get a twin pack of 20 lb for like $12? Covid came along and killed that apparently (along with a lot of people).

Costco has/had a 2 pack of the professional hardwood Kingsford with a $5 coupon that came out to ~$0.40/lb. Was the best hardwood charcoal deal I have seen in awhile

Hope the 2 packs of regular Kingsford get better than .50/lb on Memorial day sale.
That's getting a bit cray cray (used to be around .26-.28/lb, last year was ~.40/lb)

Not seeing anything too good here.

The Royal Oak Premium $8.88 bags are out of stock everywhere. They usually don't show up until Memorial Day I believe.

My personal favorite briquettes are B&B, followed by Royal Oak All Natural. I like a clean burning briquette. Not much into lump, but Walmart has 30lbs Royal Oak for $17 most of the time.

I've been tempted to try charcoal from Walmart. Supposedly it's made by Royal Oak and it's 0.37/lb.

Kingsford Original is just trash, right? It burns down fast and make a lot of ash.

I will pay the 50 cents for Kingsford if still that high on Memorial Day.
I'm not really a charcoal snob, lump is great but as much as I just fire some up in the chimney and grill for 2 people, Kingsford (with a couple small lumps of hickory, mesquite, or apple) is still my choice.
I bought Royal Oak and some other kind of Fancy Royal Oak last year and gave away my remaining bags. Was not impressed.
It did not burn hot, it didn't even burn completely down... it just kind of pissed out.
But thank you for the links.

Not in my book.
Grilling is fast.
Hot and fast and burn to ash is the whole idea.
With a smaller size Weber chimney full of Kingsford, I can cook several ribeyes or strips for dinner, then some skirt steak and then some boneless chicken breasts to freeze for nachos, quesadillas, etc, and the grill is still hot.
But I cook with cast iron grates around 1" above charcoal and charcoal is in a single layer below grates.

And it burns better and longer. I love it.
