I'm a Makita fan but went Milwaukee M12 Fuel for my automotive tools...aside from my Mak xwt08z big boy 1/2" and $30 Chinese knock-off xwt11. Makita 12v just seems lagging behind in innovation and rarely on sale.

Not bad, but not great. Also remember that Makita just releasedan 18v version of this. I believe the retail price of that is $180

I absolutely love Makita and I am heavily invested in their 18v/36v LXT line and I tried very hard to warm up to their 12v CXT line but I just can't do it. If you're looking at 12v tools because of the form factor---go Milwaukee. They offer so much more and actually develop the line with frequent sales and competitive pricing. Makita CXT quality is fine, but even home depot is slowly phasing it out (they carry only like 4-6 tools in-store and online inventory is almost permanently depleted for many other tools).
