Only 23 cities...
I'm not defending the rollout progress (I don't even have a single 3.0 channel in my market yet), but for what it's worth, with the first 62 cities that have made plans for 3.0, 75% of the US population will be covered.

If you live between markets with broadcast towers in opposite directions, you can buy two of these and combine them into a single feed using a common passive splitter as a combiner.

As a TV antenna installer I 100% approve the use of this antenna for Suburban areas within 40 miles of towers. This is the one I use almost exclusively.

I wonder if this would be any better than my current setup. I wish there was some sort of industry standard test. It always seems like there's just anecdotal comparisons for antennas. I'm around 35 miles from the towers and get good signal 99% of the time.

I've got one of these:

Combined with one of these for VHF:

Antennas are antennas. ATSC 2.0 and 3.0 are for decoding the signals. Your current antenna will work fine after the transition to 3.0, when that happens will be many years from now anyway.

If someone says you need a new antenna for the conversion, they are BSing you.
You are 100% correct. Decoding the ATSC signal is the tuner's job. For most people, if you have a TV or device with an older ATSC 1.0 tuner (ATSC 2.0 was never launched), you will still be able to use the box if you get an adapter to convert the signal (kind of like the digital adapters that were sold/the FCC gave away when we made the switch from analog to digital broadcasts). I only mentioned ATSC 3.0 in the description so that nobody has to wonder if it works or not. I think there are 2 main audiences for this deal. First are new cord cutters who want to try an OTA antenna for the first time. I would say the second audience is people who live in a market where channels have switched over to UHF and High VHF and largely abandoned Low VHF (happening in many markets). If you live on one of those markets, you can use this to upgrade a flat antenna to get a better signal or use this to replace a larger antenna that had extensions to receive the Low VHF signals.

Does not matter which version atsc, antennas are antennas. UHF and VHF. Also, there are far better antennas for close to the same price such as the HDB91X. I would recommend getting one UHF antenna and one VHF antenna, and an RCA brand combiner/booster.

This antenna will blow away that RCA and you will not see 4K for years. Hell, we do not even have 1080p OTA yet.

ATSC 3.0, also called NextGen TV, is the next big thing, bringing 4K resolution and Dolby Atmos audio over the air. That said, you DON'T need any special antenna to receive these signals – any antenna you see below will work - but you do need a TV equipped with an ATSC 3.0 tuner.Feb 8, 2021

NextGen TV, aka ATSC 3.0, is available in dozens of cities, but only a handful of TVs have built-in tuners.

Interesting. I live between Baltimore and DC and currently use a mohu (of decent quality) in the attic pulling primarily Baltimore channels. How does the combiner work?

I have a 5ft long UHF/VHF older style chimney mount on my roof top. I d always worry it'd fall down and hit on my neighbor's window on any stormy day.
Other than that I am happy with the reception of 120 channels I got.
If I replaced the old unit with this, or even 2 of these pointing to 2 different directions, would it be better or at least as good as what I am having now?

Your current setup is omni-directional antennas. Unless you receive signals from multiple directions, you'll definitely see signal improvement with a directional antenna like the one in this deal when you point it towards the transmitter. You can post your rabbitears.info link on r/cordcutters and get the helpful guys/gals over there to weigh in on things like signals bands around you, line of sight to the transmission that may be blocked by surrounding hills, any shielding on your house, etc...

This is an excellent antenna. Been using it for 6 years now. Have it in the attic and it runs into my TiVo OTA. Highly recommended

For years I paid for the basic cable package mostly just for local news, only to finally realize that several of my local stations have Roku apps or broadcast live through the NewsOn Roku app so I can get them that way! If anyone is in the same boat, check out your free digital streaming options! I fussed with 2-3 antennas, never able to get any good signals. I'm in north San Diego where it's too hilly to get any clear reception.

The other option if you're in a location they serve is https://www.locast.org/ but they don't have San Diego. Frown Free local broadcast channels though if you're in the right area!

I've installed two of these >4 years ago. They work great, read lots of fourms before buying this model. Mounted on old home owners satellite dish, tied in the booster in attic due to length of cable run and splitting.

Used tv fool to identify the correct degree for stations in Southwest Houston, from the woodlands >70miles.

Highly recommend this!
