Really like that you can control everything physically on the unit as well as the app.
Have still not mastered the auto/smart watering, but works fine with traditional schedules and can have auto rain delays
So, in this case, the "dumb" aspect is actually a great thing to have. The word "dumb" (local/physical control) is merely used to contrast the "smart" features (online cloud service and/or an app requirement).

btw, the power supply can have a very loud buzzing. check that before installing.
Means it has a "dumb" mode (physical display and buttons) in case the "smart" stuff ever stops working in the future, such as when/if they shut down the servers.

edit: saw this (https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/14959967) deal after I had purchased at Lowe's. Would have saved me an additional $20 on 3.

I had the large size b have at my last home I sold. I really liked it and was easy to use.

Negative. They're installed at different locations. Pretty sure I read in the Amazon questions that you CAN have more than one controller on the same network but you'd probably want to verify that for yourself.
*Edit* Amazon is sell the 12 zone one for only $20 more. That's probably the way to go

Note that this will connect to your smartphone ALSO via Bluetooth if you are close by.
I was considering Rachio initially but I have very happy with these abs saved a lot of money.
Please note that some utilities will give you rebate and make this unit free or heavily discounted. Besides, the water you save will add to your savings.
One thing every smart sprinkler controller will teach you is that we do NOT have to water plants everyday and that deeper and less frequent watering is the key.

I have 2 units (6 zone), one controls front yard, the other back yard, both on the same wifi network. No issues at all.
Each unit is controlled separately on the app.
