Please don't do that. USPS is already considering getting rid of the free supplies and people like you are making it an easier decision for them.

While that's true, you have to use USPS's Priority Mail service for those, which is way more expensive than, say, First Class if your item is < 1lb. With this deal, you have a lot more options available at the same price (ie-free).

Thanks OP. But I read on the website that the packages may only have a 9-month shelf-life. I don't think I'd be able to use 200 within that time frame, and I'd hate to waste them all.


How long will they last on the shelf?
Because they're made from plants not plastic, it's important to store the compostable pouches in a cool, dry place. If stored correctly, they will be tough enough to send parcels up to 9 months after purchase.

I've done that in the past years ago and USPS randomly opened one of them for inspection and charged me priority postage for my first class package. It was like $3 first class package and they charged recipient like $5 extra. Haven't done that since then. I use those padded priority mail envelopes for things 1 lb+ and value mailers bubble envelopes (around $0.25 each) for first class for our business. Also use bubble wrap for more protection.

Legally they can't open first class. They can open media mail however (full disclosure, I work there) which is what Overstock got busted for years ago.
