Hello All,

I was looking for a pair of clippers and I noticed the Wahl.com website has 20% off with '20offwahl'
I used this to buy a pair of Wahl 5 Star Senior Clippers for myself and the price was $96.00-20% which came out to $76.80 plus tax.
https://wahlpro.com/store/5-star-...08545.html
I am posting this because on Amazon right now they are $105.60 and a lot of reviews seem to suggest that they come from shady 3rd party sellers where the clippers have been previously used. This deal is direct form Wahl.
Looking at the price history, the price on these clippers has steadily climbed in the last 7 years but at some point Wahl upgraded the corded clipper with a stronger motor and I assume this is reflected in the higher price. This is also why I went with the corded clipper.
Don't forget to pick up the premium guard kit that numerous reviews suggest.

I am assuming the code works on everything...

Probably don't need it, but glad to see this posted anyway. I've seen other deals posted in the last few years... Does anyone know if the quality is about the same as it used to be, as a brand?

The low end Wahl clippers are only ok. However, their Senior Clippers and Magic Clip versions are supposedly very highly recommended for the price. Although the pricing for both is a little ballooned due to covid. I might buy one when the prices come down.

Bought a pair of the magic clip cordless a while ago (had the "pro" wired ones which are on the lower end) and it is night and day difference

-shrug- I have the wahl cordless color pro and they work pretty well. One time I dropped them and had to take the head apart to redo the spring. Ugh that was a HUGE pain in the ass.

For those who ran into similar issues, lol:

That said, it's fixable! With that fix it went back to cutting hair just fine. Not sure you'd want it to professionally cut hair lol.

If I find that machine acceptable, I'm sure this one's great.

The Wahl Senior is Barber Shop quality. Probably overkill for occasional home haircutting but will last forever. The first thing you will notice is the weight of these clippers vs Walmart Whal's and Panasonic.

Also you may need to pick up some trim guides because it will come with a #2, 4 and maybe 6 guide. Unless you are a trained skilled barber tapering and blending is difficult and near impossible if you are cutting your own hair.

Thanks Op. I went with the magic cordless clippers which comes with the 8 guides instead. I've been looking to upgrade from the $50 Braun set that just can't cut through my thick hair.

Bought Wahl Cordless 5 star Senior last year when my 11 year-old cheap-o wahl clippers started acting hinky.

One of the best purchases I've ever made. Wahl makes a damn fine product. Buy once, cry once, fellas.

Yeah you know the Wahl Professional ones are the real deal when you flick the switch. It sounds like clacking two tuna fish cans together, and is a familiar sound in a barber shop.

This!

If you're planning to start cutting and shaping at home, might as well go quality and get everything all at once. You'll save time from waiting and driving to the barber as well as money in the long run.

- Wahl Senior
- Wahl Detailer (for fine detailing and shaping facial hair)
- Premium Cutting Guides set or individual pieces. These are the premium guides with metal clips that have stiffer plastic for more precise cutting.
- An extra set of cutting blades for back-up

The Wahl Senior and Detailer are professional-grade and hence the higher price tag. I recommend the corded version for longevity as the battery version will eventually need battery replacement.

I received mine yesterday but I noticed that both the front and back have minor scratches. My impression is that these should be new but these appear to be used. Anyone else encounter the same?

Received my 5 Star Senior last week. Plastic front with name was scratched up, as if it had been rubbed on a rough surface. The blade seemed to have too much oil on it, and there were oily fingerprints on the body (especially noticeable on the metal). I contacted Wahl, attached a photo, and asked if these were reconditioned. The rep stated that they do not sell reconditioned units, that a step between testing and packaging had not been performed, and immediately sent out a new one. It should arrive tomorrow.
