People have experienced stability issues with JMS583. RTL9210 and ASM2362 are better with RTL9210 being the better of the two.

A TB3 enclosure at the $16.99 price range?
If yours is https://www.amazon.com/WAVLINK-Ce...07YB4DDRB/ it's priced at $79.99 more than 4 times the cost of the OPs one.

Please don't post "better options" that aren't even in the ball park price wise.

I have this exact unit, paid $20 for it about 4 months ago. Great part of my toolkit; used this to clone a drive when upgrading my brother-in-law's gaming rig.

Is that a good thing or a bad one ? Sorry for my ignorance. I'm actually looking for an NVME enclosure and the price I think is ok, compared to 20 and up for others, but I wouldn't mind getting something else. Thank you.

Nobody complained about the hot temperature. I guess it is just me. For temporary file transfer, it is fine. However, when I use it to store a spare 128g m2 as an external usb drive, it gets very hot. So I stop using it after one file transfer.

Does the case touch the drive? Or do you need thermal tape?

Which RTL9210 enclosure would you recommend?

bought this last time on sale. Its slower than my sabrent one, uses a different controller. For a 1000 MBps drive it goes at full speed on the Sabrent, but here only 780-820 MBps. Not a big deal though, I doubt I will ever notice that for the workloads on it.

The first one I got though bricked on the firmware update, which was needed to keep it from disconnecting. No problem though, amazon sent me a new one right away, update worked and good to go.

Some positives, it stays cool, maybe because of speed, but its pretty well ventilated and just plastic. The cables it comes with though, NICE. They work great, nice and short, I don't use my Sabrent cable anymore, I use the ones that came with this. very very good quality.

YMMV, but if you need something for your slower M.2 drives, can't get better than this one.

Bought this Or!co model about six months ago and it's been flawless. Would recommend without hesitation to anyone would wants an RTL9210 chipset but doesn't care about Thunderbolt levels of performance.
