I thought they said they weren't doing 1440p due to the console is made for TV.s. I ended up going with a Xbox this release and I will never go back. 1440p@120hz on this TV is amazing with the series X
I have not heard that. I could never go back to xbox as sonys exclusive games are awesome and microsoft likes to nickle and dime you to death.
I'm comparing the 55 inch... This 6 series TCL new is $700 Sony 900 series is $1000.... While refurbished is $550 and a steal for quality. Certain things brand names matter in the TV segment, not as much maybe I'm wrong but that seems to be my observation as most manufactures buy panels from Samsung and LG
TCL uses panels made by CSOT; which, is a subsidiary of TCL. Samsung Display already closed almost all of their LCD panel manufacturing plants and will end panel manufacturing this year, according to https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news...1609734873
Samsung has already been using outsourced panels for most of their 2020 TV lineup. For 2021, it looks like all of Samsung's 2021 TV lineup are using outsourced panels.
Just a little super glue and it will be good as new Hope the return process is easy.
Thanks for the report, my living room TV (mainly girlfriend watches it) has suddenly bit the dust this week and I have been looking but I need to have the replacement by this Sunday. I was tempted to get this even though it wont come until next week but this post has changed my mind, I don't know if the prices have gone up since a month ago but I can't find a new version of this TV for under 789 right now.
I know there is a shortage and all but I may just have to bite the bullet on this one. May have to buy from Best Buy with 12 months financing so I have a brick and motor to take it back to and swap out if something goes wrong. Hate to do it but I am in sort of a bind. I don't play video games on it does not have to be great but I want something decent and this seems to be the best bang for the buck.
Hard to find the slick deal when you are in a time crunch unless anybody else has any ideas, prices seem high everywhere at this time and I can only see them going higher.
Edited to add:
FYI if anybody is still looking for a refurb or a recert they have this at Newegg through Electronic Express for 419.8, not sure how reputable they are but I have had no issues in the past buying refurbs from Newegg in the past.

Yes I have owned both. Sony is a good TV but not worth the extra $$$$.
