I'm looking at receiver alone. Although factory reconditioned...the reviews arent the best. However isn't this Costco version of the RX-V6A sold out at Best buy? I'm thinking about taking the gamble with hope they updated firmware. Any thoughts?

I picked up this receiver from Costco in December for $330.

At first I was not a happy camper. For higher quality content (mainly Disney +) I experienced 30-40 sec delay before audio would kick in and the audio felt thin overall conpaired to my older Onkyo. Also for some reason, the receiver keeps overiding my settings every time I turn the unit off.

I am about 3 firmware updates later and things have greatly improved. Audio quality is on par if not greater than the Onkyo. I occasionally have a lag of a few seconds when starting content on Disney + but OK. I applied a settings lock to 'fix' the settings issue.

From my understanding, the 4k VFR has not been fixed but not an issue for me.

Overall I am happy and would give it a 4/5.

So...in theory...watch Costco prices and buy new.

Or maybe wait for these used/refurb ones to be sold for cheaper? The new TSR-700 didn't hit shelves until a little before Black Friday. This is the first I've seen the refurbs being sold but it was just a matter of time.

I know we don't have a time machine, but just for reference these have been sold for less at Costco new : $330 and $300 .

During last sale at Costco. It was $320 (receiver) + $300 (speakers).

Had to return the speakers as these were too weak given my room size.

Costco current price is $400 for the receiver, but more likely than not, it will be discounted in the future. If you can wait, Costco return policy is very reassuring for receiver purchase with things that can go wrong as you tinker with such device.

Strange bundle.

Could be the start of a system. This paired with some Klipsch floorstanding speakers would make this pretty decent. Then a Sub upgrade down the road.

I am thinking these are the refurbished from the earlier returns of the cheaper Costco deal.
What a deal for more expensive refurbished with less Warranty and worse return policy. Smilie

This is really excellent feedback, and I appreciate the insight on the receiver. I have one of the older TSR models that has Atmos decoding and passes 4K, but it's pretty much no frills.

Repped for the quality input.

I have these speakers. They are great for people who don't have a lot of space and sound so much better than a soundbar. Just be warned that one you get a taste, you will want to keep upgrading...

the AVR was 330 new at Costco (still if in stock) and the speakers were 249 or 299. Now they are refurbed for more than new. Not a slick deal. Great AVR IMO.
