Yes, you can replace the 777 with this. The hammer function is a selectable feature. Turn it on when you need it, off when you don't.

Not bad, but I'd pay $60 more for the Grainger deal if you have a store near you. There you get a 5Ah battery, charger, and bag.

Thanks OP. This is a good deal for me. I've wanted this for quite a while but I don't need more batteries or impact drivers. I already have a few flexvolt batteries from another SD, excited to see if this lives up to the claims

Can this replace my regular dcd 777 drill. Meaning can I use it as a regular drill without the hammer function? Or is that not advisable?

In for 1. Thanks for posting. This should be a good addition to my DeWalt collection. It is nice that so many tools are on the 20v battery platform. I have lots of DeWalt tools and my only regret is the DCV517B vacuum. Just a really awkward tool.

Is this work getting and selling my DCD996B? I've only used a couple time. Got for $80 brand new in an HD YMMV deal in 2019. Maybe I could resell for about that? Then it would be $40+ tax to upgrade to DCD999B.

Here was that deal:

This is overkill for around the house for anyone considering. It's pretty bulky and heavy in the hand.

You guys aught to get the smaller drill for day to day.

I have DCD996B and it is heavy and bulky, so definitely not for day-to-day use. However, it is very powerful. I end up using lightweight 12V bosh driver because of that.

Depends on your day to day. If you have to hang anything in brick, block, or concrete, this is a must.

Yea, the cheepie 12v drills are the best for around the house.

The dewalt 12v isn't better than the cheepies either.

The dewalt 20v brushless NON-impact is better than the competition, but it's again a bit overkill for round the house. laugh out loud

if someone does that day to day, they also don't need drill choice advice. laugh out loud

To clarify for anyone who doesn't know, the T1 just means a battery and charger are included. This is the same drill but the B at the end means bare tool.

If you have only used it a few times, why bother upgrading? It's more or less the same form factor. Paying more to upgrade a drill that is perfectly capable of doing the inconsistent work you give it and then having to resell seems... like doing work, losing money, for zero gain.
