With the M1 devices so far, the RAM is baked into the chip (not even its own soldered chip) so it is not upgradable in these regards.
It actually isn't but it is soldered to the package. Word is some Chinese tech shops have upgraded the memory and ssd but it's wildly impractical so don't buy with the expectation you'll ever be able to do it.
My friend says these are new even though they are being listed as refurbs. I mean its only been out several months
it varies. sometimes they are just returns. sometimes they had a defect that was repaired. you never really know. I will say I have never been disappointed with an official Apple refurb.

They are definitely not new. This can be verified by serial number, however you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an Apple Refurb and new other than the box. I've been buying Apple refurbs for years.

Some folks work at a desk on a regular basis, with an external monitor. Or want an htpc.
