Check the serial number for manufacturing date before purchase. It will stop working 10 years from that date. The date code is in the middle of the serial number after the letters. The first 2 digit is the week of the year followed by the 2 digit year code.
Are you serious?

What if you want to know if there's a fire in your house while you're away?
What if you're deaf?
What if you want all smoke detectors to go off of one goes off?

I could go on...

WTF? This is interesting! What is it that makes they stop working a certain time after manufacture?
All smoke/co detectors are good for 10 years. If you have older ones you should replace them.

Do all smoke/co detectors stop working after 10 years of the MANUFACTURING DATE? No, they don't, they recommend changing them 10 years after first use.

Again the interesting part is that these stop working 10 years after the date on the serial number.

But isn't it better for your safety that they do stop working at that time?

Yea, I've searched several cities, not in stock anywhere. This should be marked as expired.

Can't figure out what you mean. Serial number has letters and numbers in all combinations.
Should I return them since their lifespan have only 6-7 years left ? AC2616 (26week2016) and ACAC0917 (9week2017).

I would return it. 2016 one is already halfway through its lifespan while the 2017 one is over 4 years. And there is no telling these smart alarms will actually last the whole 10 years. Not worth the trouble when there is a chance you will be replacing them again in 4 or 5 years.

Doesn't seem like many or anyone was really able to replicate, sadly.. So I would stop thumbing up this extreme YMMV.

I was set on buying a couple of these, but then Google added a feature to Google home devices that alerts your phone when it hears any old fashion smoke/CO detector. For my purposes, that's all i need
I didn't know of this feature, how do I activate it?
