I wouldn't get this system as its not a POE system to make it future proof... Who wants to re-run wires in the future.

Can't you add an adapter to convert them to poe?

Then what would you suggest as a better alternative?

With NVR system you only need to run one CAT 5e or CAT 6 Ethernet cable. POE for the win.

Can someone recommend a good budget POE system with local storage.

Yes, they're called baluns.

I'd reject the premise that you'd need to run ethernet in the first place though. The installed base for CCTV alone keeps siamese cabling relevant. Hence why we're talking about 4k DVRs now.

The POE groupthink has gotten thick around here.

Nvr used to be around this price for decent for 4 cameras but in the recent year or 2, good luck finding any. So if you need something now, one might have to consider this unfortunately.

Hopefully price will come down again in another year or 2.

Did some research on Lorex NVRs and DVRs some time ago - Apparently the app is thrash. Can someone who owns Lorex confirm whether the viewing through the app works?

Could you run the ethernet then convert that to BNC with something like this?
