The more things you can hardwire, the better your Wifi network should be.

For most homes unmanaged is fine. I run managed switches mainly so my guest and iot vlans can be completely segregated from my regular home network vlan

Nice switch, I just don't hardline like I used to. With wifi 6, what would be the best use for this device?

Agreed. I use these for applications at work where high signal fidelity and low latency is important, and where security is paramount. Also, increasingly scientific devices are transitioning from serial (including USB) to ethernet but don't have wifi capability. Rather than run several 100m cables from my router, I'd rather run a single to one of these and breakout from there.

I just started getting into networking and setting up my home. How does this compare to the GS108PE and GS108T that I have?

Depends on how much bandwidth you use and if you want to traffic shape. At this price, I'd go with a managed switch if you are needing a switch. For home, I probably wouldn't change to a managed switch unless I have a specific reason I would need too.

On a managed switch, Link Aggregation. Also, my GT-AX11000 only came with four ports

Awesome idea!!

I've want to do the same. Could you please point me to an article or video to guide me through the process?

Thank you

This switch can isolate ports' traffic from each other via VLANing them, which may be better for security. Buy an adequately fast small form factor box to hook your FO or cable modem to, run pfsense on it, hook that to this, then ensure each port on the switch is VLANing, then wire your rooms up to the switch, hook your Wifi router into the switch that also does VLANs, make sure any shared devices aren't VLANed on the switch and router, and you'll be more secure than most offices, probably will stream a lot faster, and, without putting on a tin foil hat, you may reduce radiation that may be affecting your sleep and well-being if you're sensitive*.

While this is a well-rated switch, you may want to buy a few switches, configure them the same, then store one of them. Provide proper air circulation and cooling to the other, using a touch test for heat after it's been running a while. A review I read on Amazon for it started off stellar, but they changed it to a one star as it died several months in, and the warranty didn't cover use. It's a good deal though- just be smart.

* - If you're really sensitive to radiation, also use a Trifield meter and maybe a cheap meter for circularly polarized radiation. Wiring Ethernet is a good step towards turning off 24/7 emissions, and makes more sense than being like the brother in Better Call Saul. Cages, blocking paint and fabric may just push devices to use more power; for example, you'd want to block the house-side of a smart meter, not wrap it in an exterior cage, or it may just raise power to speak to its friends. Radiation can be moderately safe and even helpful, such as some level of alpha radiation from Radon having shown to reduce chance of cancer in chain-smokers as well as generally protecting against genetic mutation, but given that trust in companies, industries, and government would fail if something embedded into our daily lives like wifi, bluetooth, cellular communication, etc. were found harmful, there's little reason to suspect all radio transmissions are safe for everyone. And wired networks can be fun, and may have Freudian First Wave therapeutic effects from plugging things in.

How does this handle VLAN's? I've read some low end models leave certain ports to cross and still allow access. Maybe that was a different brand. The 5 port model with the managed features of this is $20, both priced reasonably if VLAN functions properly.
