TBH I looked at this vs the equivalent TP link and the TP link had better specs and additional QOS features. I also dislike netgear for their current practices of forcing you to sign up for an account and agree to data sharing. That isn't an issue currently for their switches, but only a matter of time, they've been rolling it out to lots of stuff.

The TP Link is $1 cheaper right now too

I actually have both TP-Link and Netgear switches in the house and am equally happy with them (one TP-Link 24 port smart switch in my main home network rack, and three "satellite" Netgear smart switches (16 port, 8 port +2 SFP, and the 8 port switch in this post). I have an IoT VLAN set up, and both brands support it equally well through web-based interfaces. I'm not using any other managed functions though.

Both will handle VLANs fine and interoperate (any VLAN aware switch will interoperate fine). The TP Link has some extra QOS features and larger port buffers, and is $1 cheaper. And less risk of them forcing you to create an account in order to access the GUI.

Functionally, for most, either will be fine, but if one has better specs for less money, makes sense to go that way. Honestly when I bought the TP link it was a couple dollars more and I still went with that.
