I actually have both TP-Link and Netgear switches in the house and am equally happy with them (one TP-Link 24 port smart switch in my main home network rack, and three "satellite" Netgear smart switches (16 port, 8 port +2 SFP, and the 8 port switch in this post). I have an IoT VLAN set up, and both brands support it equally well through web-based interfaces. I'm not using any other managed functions though.
Functionally, for most, either will be fine, but if one has better specs for less money, makes sense to go that way. Honestly when I bought the TP link it was a couple dollars more and I still went with that.
