Lol, way to pair a 27lb battery with a compact tool. Obviously, if you have more 18v stuff around, not a big deal... but it just seems like a weird pairing.

2962-20 all day if you do any suspension work. In addition to more overall power, it has a much better torque curve than the new Gen3 compact or even Gen1 mid-torque. If size is a problem, like the head is too big, then some universal sockets and/or extensions get you around that issue.

The Gen3 compact Impact, posted here, has nearly the same performance and size profile as a M12 Stubby (with XC4.0 battery) but on the M18 platform. The Gen3 is taller and has a bigger base (due to battery pack) but has a smaller head.

How does it compare to the mid-torque one?

Nice! Probably don't need it, as I already have the M12 stubby. But I'm also in the M18 ecosystem. So why not have both? Ordered for local pickup. Haha!

Just came across a youtube video of a 1/2" anvil swap onto a 3rd gen Milwaukee hex impact drill.... more torque than the 1/2" stubby. Curious if a 3/8" anvil could be put in place instead.

To anyone adventurous, look it up... Bare tool impact drill is 97$ on amazon, anvil part is about 15-20$. Might throw you down a rabbit hole though; w/ battery mods and such..

Battery mods and such? Care to elaborate or link to more information?

Dang. I just need some high amp batteries... wondering if I should jump on this and try to sell the tool and charger 🤔

Looks like HD's 12/8amp battery combo kit just came back in stock. I know as soon as I buy this tool combo, HD will list the battery kit for the $200 sale price 😭
