This is a reliable box and has worked well for the Last 5 Years with Google Voice. My only complaint is, when my phone rings it gives me a cut off message to press a number instead of just answering the call. I would love to be able to circumvent that step. Other than that these are fantastic as a landline phone paired with Google Voice
i think you need to go into google voice settings and change the settings.
voice.google.com -> Settings -> Calls -> Screen Calls

Assuming a reliable internet connection, is this reliable enough for a small business?
It is as reliable as your net connection when paired with Google voice.

Thanks I will take another look, I went in there once before and I could not find any specific settings for that.

Anyone have issues with faxing? All my faxes sent have errors or incomplete transmissions when using the OBI. On a regular landline, I don't have such issue.

I bought this on the last deal and apparently it doesn't work if you use any sort of serious firewall. I have approached support several times and they sent me the standard troubleshooting steps which do not work. I have not taken the device outside of my network to see if the device is a problem where it's my network.
I use pfSense and did not have to do anything special to get my two units to work.

I seem to be able to send faxes successfully form a Brother all-in-one device. Maybe it uses a lower transmission speed?

Has anyone transferred phone # from Vonage to Google voice recently?
you can't. You will have to move it to a wireless service and then move that to google.

Yes, more so lately than before.

I used to fax hundreds of pages amonth in my office just fine.

Over the last @ 4 months, been getting constant errors. Moved it to another (AIO) printer with the same results. About 1 in ten faxes is successful.

I've done every troubleshooting possible with no success. Would appreciate any input...

Because unlike Skype you do not need a smartphone or a computer. All you need is this box and any house phone. The fact that this is free when paired with Google Voice from now on is pretty darn cool. They can be kind of finicky to set up initially, but once you do they work Rock Solid.

I have the 2 ports version at home. Works great.

Since I do not use FAX at home, if I have not purchased that box yet, I may just use my spare smart phone instead. You can just install Google Voice, and done! You do not need to spend anything to buy any box to replace your current land line.

Skype? It is not really phone number based. People can not call you from their regular phone.

I see there are other versions that have two ports- is that only so you can make/receive two calls at the same time or could I put a splitter on this box and connect a phone and fax? Or, even plug it into my home phone wiring and then use any/all of the ports in the house for phones? With the understanding with a single port I could only make/receive one call at a time.
I'm not familiar with this one specifically, but typically each port will handle one SIP line, i.e. phone #.

The only reason you'd want two ports is if you have two different phone #s.

The single port version will convert one digital phone # to an analog signal, which you could then send to your home phone wiring and split to as many phones/faxes as you wanted, with the understanding that they would all use the same phone #, and you could only use one at a time (since you only have one line)/

lmao, this is a setting from within Google voice, not the box itself. I just find it amusing that it's something that's bothered you for 5 years.
