I reviewed one of these when they first came out, brand new out of the box I used Turbo mode for an entire battery, about 10 minutes, and noticed the battery was oddly warm. Tried the second, and it was also hot. (135 degrees cell, and 150 at the connector)

Opened up the battery to find LG HE2 cells. These are decent cells and rated for 15A discharge and 2500MAH down to 2.0v (oddly low)

I sent the item back, told them what I found out, and asked about why those cells.

I recently purchased a manufactured refurb, opened up the battery pack, and found HE4 cells.

These cells are much better. 2500 MAH @ 20A down to 2.5v. Ran the vacuum on turbo for about 10 minutes, and the battery was 115 and the connector was 125.

I don't know if my first was an early production model and they switched cells of if they remanufactured packs use the HE4 cells.
Additional 15% off with code PICKCR4MOM.
That's like asking if this Ford is better than a Chevy. Is a Mustang better than an Aveo? Is an Escort better than a Corvette or an f-150 better than a Suburban?

This LG is probably better than your old V6. But it's not better than a Dyson v11 or Outsize or V15. Its performance is about on par with a v10 - with some features that could push it over the v10 if they're important to you. It's got a really great stand and two batteries. It's got a telescoping wand. But if you want the best suction, you'd be better off with a v11 or v15. (Though the LG is well above average there.)

For the money though (with the warranty) this is a fairly good deal. You'll see refurb v10's for about this price but won't have two batteries.

Fluffy head is a must for me - no carpet, all hard surfaces. LG doesn't include the fluffy head on their new Kompressor models, and I couldn't find it for sale on their website, so I am not expecting availability to increase for the foreseeable future.

Every Vacuum Wars video I've watched shows the fluffy heads are easily superior to the combo heads for hard floors. I don't know why LG would discontinue the fluffy head, but I'm concerned they have.

I wasn't too happy with this deal when initially posted given the seller isn't familiar to me, but the addition of the 15% coupon and All State warranty got me over the top. Plus I should be able to return it if there's anything obviously wrong within 30 days.

TU and reps OP!

Just pulled the trigger. Thanks.

Good way to spend that money printed and given to us by former vice president Biden.

How does it come boxed? I'm thinking for a mother's day gift.
Put it together and toss a bow on it. Won't matter if there's a box if you present it right Smilie

Tempted to go with the $250 Costco deal still. Thoughts? I think I can get by with less accessories and add on later if needed, if anything does go wrong long past 2 years it won't be a big deal.
I might have too if this deal hadn't come up and if 60% of the floors in our house weren't hard surface. Happy for this deal, but if you don't need it for hard surfaces I can see the appeal of having Costco standing by it for an easy return should you not be satisfied. I don't think you'd regret it anyways.

I just realized you don't mention if you have hard surfaces or not (must've assumed). But this deal would the be in the "no brainer" category if you do!

Thanks everyone for the tips. I've been on the fence on this vs a Dyson V8. Not a huge fan of the Dyson's with the seemingly non-user-replaceable battery, I did enjoy the suction power of the Dyson Big Ball. How does this compare for a cordless alternative?

I'm coming from a Hoover Cordless 2-in-1 that I've had for 4.5 years now with swappable high capacity batteries. Hoover no longer makes the 2-in-1's, only stick vacuums.
Dyson batteries ate about $15-20 on ebay. Can be EASILY changed as well. FYI

I had no idea it was this easy. That's pretty cool. https://youtu.be/axuz5qJfHQ8

Just three screws. I mean, it's not just an easy swap for when you're in middle of cleaning, but still the way people talk I've never even thought about it. Thanks for sharing. Wonder if you can get a longer lasting battery..?

I bought this NEW from Costco for $350 + $30 sales tax = $380.

I believe I can still return it for a full refund, and order this!

ARGH, decisions.

Great deal with the 2 year warranty included, but wish it came with the "power punch" nozzle for couches and car seats. I dont think any of the refurbs units include it.

I haven't heard a lot of positive things about the power punch nozzle. Have you tried it?

Wow that is a lot of positive comments from people who only have a total of 1-2 comments.

It's fine for what it is, and I don't really care what other people buy, but use a little common sense:
-Is this first generation, only vacuum made by LG gonna be better overall than a 40th generation Dyson?
-You're already right in the refurb Dyson V10 price range with this, and even the V8 beats the LG on rtings.com.
-Check any Reddit thread you want. Every one with more than 5 comments leans heavily toward Dyson.
-Enough lies about battery life. Of the near dozen Dysons I've bought (new and refurb) for myself and family, I had to replace one battery. They sell aftermarket batteries that are twice the capacity for around $20.

House is about 50 / 50 - I was going to see if the carpet attachment would suffice but I'll roll the dice since it seems there are nothing but good experiences with this seller / item so far.

I spent a lot of time reading vacuum threads on reddit and I'm not sure I agree with that. If you go to the subreddits that are actually serious about this stuff, you won't see a lot of love for Dyson. It's a pretty obvious reason why, these days your paying up more for the marketing than the premium product. I haven't bought an aftermarket battery for my old Dyson yet, but I just know it's going to be a shit show. Every other review on every single aftermarket battery is about it dying after 3 months.
