For $1,200 you can get a Coleman KT196 buggy that 1) Goes faster than this 2) You can bring a passenger with you 3) 400lb weight limit 4) Capable of going offroad 5) Has a Honda gas motor clone with extensive aftermarket support 6) has shocks 7) Almost all of the parts are replaceable and parts are cheap 8) Has a roll cage which my kids have proven works very well.

15.5 Miles Range. Should do nicely for my commute to work, which is 12.2 miles. Charge it when I get there and I should be good for the return home.

I bought the previous model when Target had a deal. It was fun and I satisfied the kid in me. However, it got boring real quick driving around by myself. I told my buddies to get one so I could race them but they have no storage space.

I could see me getting one for my 4 y/o.... But needs to handle yard/grass riding at low speed. Need to be able to speed limit it in the software.

This says 23 mph and the Coleman says 15 mph max.

Looks interesting, but really in an entirely different product class. The reviews on the Coleman are not particularly glowing either. Top speed is not higher and apparently the ride quality is poor regardless of whatever suspension it's supposed to have

I clocked the Coleman at 27mph with myself and my son in it on a washboarded dirt road. There is a throttle limiter that you screw in or out to vary the speed. The are also a ton of aftermarket parts for the engine. It's a 6.5hp motor but you can get close to 20hp out of it modified. Stock is fast enough though.
