If you're a fan of the 16340 form factor and after 2 lights, seems like a decent deal as they are 24 each on amazon.

The W1 has a Luminus SST20 LED and the H01 has a Cree XP-G3. Both in only cool white unfortunately.

or in blue and orange if preferred

USB charging is a plus for those without LiIon setups.

Thrunite makes great gear.... I have a few myself.

I'm not into 16340/123 devices... I don't need a new battery ecosystem to deal with. I've seen runtimes suffer vs a 14500 battery. Thats up for debate, I'm sure. To me, a 14500 is a better direction. Weight is negligible (usually 1-2grams max) BUT 14500 lights usually are backwards compatible with AA. If i'm stuck with a dead battery, I can pop a AA in my light and get 70% of the brightness.

Just my .02.

Small for the sake of small, the useful amount of light mode of 693lumen is only 74 minutes, and when you need a headlight you don't need the trouble of a half dead battery, meaning easy usb charging is still a chore.

I have two lights that use the cr2/ 16340 platform and six batteries. They don't hold much of a charge though the reduced weight is somewhat useful. I prefer the 14500 or 18650 still as the nominal size/weight increase isn't bad and much greater capacity is preferable for me.

Any suggestions on a good headlamp that uses aa or aaa batteries? It's for occasional use

I use a Black Diamond storm 400 personally. It uses 4 AAA. Had it for a few years now, still going strong. Not the cheapest, but you should be able to find a 20% off coupon through REI or somewhere else. If you want cheap, Costco usually sells a 3 pack of Duracell branded headlamps for ~$25

If you rarely use non-rechargeable batteries I'd actually say 16340 is a solid choice. Just buy a pack of CR123s for emergencies, they last forever in storage compared to AA and have way more capacity.

My nephew gave me a flashlight that uses 18650 batteries and a great charger. Brightest and most used flashlight in the house. Would like to see some great deals on these kind of flashlights

I got sick of black diamond headlamps. Never lasted long while climbing. Got a 600 lumen headlamp that last 14 hours on 600 lumens running a 18650 battery with a chest strap, a extension cable so I can place the battery in my pocket buf it's so well built I never notice it mounted on my head. On lowest setting it lasts like a week.

Any device selling loose 18650 or other similar style batteries is a fire hazard btw. These are all naked cells rewrapped (sometimes badly) and they go up fast when they fail. Like would 3rd degree burn the skin on your head if a failure during charging or other finally caused an explosion while it was strapped to your head.

My wife bought me a headlamp, it came with 2 rewrapped no name 18650s. Lol no way.

Yeah, a no-name 18650 screwed into a metal tube with metal end caps can explode like a grenade instead of just catching on fire.

I got bunch of extra 18650 batteries and was looking for a headlamp that uses it.
