I must be spoiled, but Gen3 went on sale so many times the year prior to Gen4 release that I feel like $29.99 is the regular price.

Yep, and they have the Dot Clock version for $40. [bestbuy.com]

Amazon will let you order it but has no ETA on Availability. For me, well worth $10 both for alarm clock functions, and for visible countdown of all the timers I set.

Meh how do dots sound? I like full size echoes
LMAO - you have no idea how they sound yet feel qualified to diminish the deal.

Just be aware these have been on sale for less. In late December they were $22/$32. (Without/With Clock) and at another time this year maybe around early February?

I mean, they are underwhelmed by the idea of a smaller speaker compared to what they are used to and then are asking for opinions on the sound quality. If you're into audio, it's a fair question as you'll lose a lot of depth of sound.

Personal opinion: if you're any kind of audiophile and want to use this mostly to stream music, it won't have the same depth you're used to with a full-sized Echo. If you're ok knowing that going in, they don't sound bad for the size they are. I use one to stream music while I'm cooking in the kitchen, but there are so many noises going on I'm just getting it as background noise and it works well. While it does stream music fine, I think the primary design focus of this is using it as a voice assistant and it has better-than-decent sound quality for music. I like the minis and use them frequently, but when I want to really get high quality audio I go to my full sound system.

These are the size of hockey pucks and graprefruit and we're arguing about audiophile sound quality? Really?

3rd gen is much better than the originals; I don't expect a glorified coaster to give me the experience a $3k Bose system would. Let's get real here.

I'll bite. Traded in a 3rd gen. Hopefully the mics are a bit better on these new ones. Use it to drive a whole home audio setup with some echo flexes and overall its been working pretty well.

These can be used as a lighting bridge for some of the ring smart light items and a glass break sensor for ring alarm

If you're any kind of audiophile, you don't use these at all, though. For the rest of us peons, these things are pretty decent, and equate to a solid mini speaker 🤷

if you own an Echo, then you know what to expect, and this is just a small echo. it packs decent sound, but don't expect it to match a bigger/louder speaker
