15% off + 10% off totals 23.5% off, not 25% off.

I got an embody for just over 1k after tax (free shipping) from an authorized dealer here in Ca.

For those who are asking for a contact, just go on Herman Miller's website, use their dealer locator and then reach out to a "local" vendor. I read online that they just have to be in the same state as you (not confirmed but I went with a dealer just a couple hours from me in the same state).

The embody I priced out on on HM was $1,675 BEFORE TAX. The dealer I went through got it for me for $1,067 (981 before tax) delivered to my house. I never left the house, everything was done via email.
I echo this. In HM website I maxed out an embody chair for 1895$(before taxes), I've reached out to a local dealer just recently and they invoiced me same product for 1167$ including taxes and shipping, they said shipping would take around 4-8 weeks and mine is scheduled to arrive on 12 th of May.

My shipping address is in NJ but the dealer I've reached out is from NY, so may be they can ship to a neighboring state.

I get that these are like the best chairs you can buy. But what I don't get is how you turn about $10 of material into something that somehow costs $600+

Awesome! You're gonna love the chair.

I was seriously about to buy an embody at retail, or wait for a sale like this. Glad I checked reddit and was made aware that authorized dealers will get you a better deal than any of these sales without any real effort.

Where and when did you do this. I live in California and called my local dealer. They were happy to show me the chairs and I got to try them but they offered me worse options. They were not rude or anything, but very honest. They said they have never offered any discount and if I ordered through them, I wouldn't get the 30 day money back return. I would get charged a restocking fee or probably not even be able to return. I was better off order online at the actual herman miller site which they pointed out.

Well that depends on your weight, the manufacturer list the weight up to 300lbs. So as long as you and your right hand weigh less then you are good to go. 😉

Louisville Represent! I didn't know we had a dealer here

Beware of the return policy: 14 days store credit only

One of the advantages of ordering from places like this is you can usually get it cheaper. I found authorized retailers had high restocking fees so it's risky if you don't know what size or model you want. If that's the case, I suggest going somewhere to sit in all them, then you can know what you want before you commit.

Conversely, paying full price (or black friday sale prices) on hermanmiller.com allows you to return on a whim if you don't like it. Pros and Cons to each approach.

Yeah but when you start adding options you are still over $1k (posture fit back, hard floor wheels, tilt and adjustable arms).

You can get a deal similar to this anytime by going to a HM dealer. They always give you better pricing.

Source: Have 2, sitting in an Aerin right now.
This is absolute truth. The sales you see on line are generally still more than going to a furniture dealer. There's also additional discounts for Architecture and Design firms and many companies that buy these chairs for their offices have contracts in place that will provide better pricing for employee purchase.

The hook with the on line sellers is giving a price for a stripped down version of the Aeron, then make you consider whether or not you need each function. If you're investing in a good chair, talk to someone that can explain each function and go to the dealer to sit in the chair. They can adjust the chair to your height and weight and give you better info to weigh your decision.

I use the Aeron in the office and I've always found it uncomfortable after about an hour, so I end up shifting around a lot, sit on one of my legs on the seat, or I end up just working at my desk on my knees.

Since I'm still WFH, I got rid of my $150 office chair in my home office to a Secret Labs gaming chair. Been using it for over 6 months now and so far so good. Much more comfortable than the Aeron and I can pretty much sit up to 6 hours before having to get up to move around, use the restroom, or whatever...I work longer hours at home than in the office just because I have a more comfortable seat.

I will have to ask my boss to replace my Aeron with a Secret Labs when we return back to the office full time.

If you're in NJ or NYC, look into Office chair liquidator. Bought a HM for me, Steelcase for hubby, HON for the kiddo. Best decision we made to invest in chairs over the last year.

Executive Liquidation Inc.
100 Redneck Avenue
Moonachie NJ (think, Giants Stadium)

They're only open certain days (And every other Saturday).

They have a lot of Herman Miller Mirra and Steelcase chairs.

I've had mine (C) for over 15 years and I've had several back surgeries. It's probably the only office chair I can be comfortable in. High price, but it's worth it.
